The same goes for the Australian team - if SA dismiss Hayden & Ponting early...

Hahah ye really???? Did you, me any WC watchers see the full Aus lineup??
Nope they never get to show their lower order....
Aus is not just these 2 power players, they have others.

I think already won the game tomorrow!! Psychologically that is.

Why are you so anti-SA? Jeez, to the point of supporting Australians, for shame!

Nah I hate the Ausies!!! Well I used to like them when Border was captain now I dont!!

Just being real about the situation. Robs idea of dismissing Ponting and Hayden to win the game is just a little stupid, they still got Hussey and Clarke and Symonds etc not so easy.

If we dismiss Ponting and Hayden early, it will be a HUGE step towards winning the game ;)

Who cares what some hot winded journalist has to say.

Hussey aint performing (not to say he wont in the next match), Clarke is a great batsman and fielder and same goes for Symonds. But you gotta get real, dismissing the opening batsman is critical, just look at what they did to us in the group stage. This time its gonna change, I mean hell its the 1st time Ive ever heard so much support for SA like on 5FM and Highveld etc. We all know Australia is a killer side but we're better.

Ok Ok, So todays game fast pitch and bouncy wicket, I hope Mailingas playing, in the NZ side you can say get Flemming out and the rest will follow!!

Battle of the best captains gonna be playing today!!

Apart from Gilchrist, Ponting and Hayden (and thats quite a big "apart from") the other Aussie Batsmen haven't really been scoring runs. But thats possibly because:
  1. They haven't needed to because Gilchrist, Hayden and Ponting have been scoring runs
  2. They haven't had a chance to because Gilchrist, Hayden and Ponting have been scoring runs
So maybe thats a weak spot, but we haven't seen it yet?
And first we actually have to get Hayden, Ponting and Gilchrist out cheaply and thats not a small task.

As long as Ntini doesn't open the bowling we might make a quick breakthrough. Sure he's been a great bowler in the past but in this WC it seems his brains just aren't working. He keeps bowling from wide of the crease and same ol' line and length, not capable of changing it round a bit and surprising the batsman. Nel is exactly what we need, when he's fired up he bowls quick as hell, he has a slower ball not to mention he scares the **** out of many batsman. Langes can also swing it round a bit which is a plus. Polly almost never leaks runs, except in our last match against Australia where he got assaulted:(.

Jayawardene the best captain? Yeah ok

Really?

I'm not supporting Sangakara neccessarily, but how do you measure a captain? Fleming is, I suppose doing well with a team that doesn't have the match-winners of Aus, SA or SL, but his individual performances have not been great and I think that has to count for something.

As much as I hate to admit it Ponting has to be the captain of the tournament so far. No losses (so far), great individual performances, able to react and adjust when the team's back has been against the wall, and able to dominate the rest of the time...

The other captain that I think did really well was Trent Johnson from Ireland.

You guys dont watch the Sri Lanka games right?
Jayawardene uses the power very well!! He uses his bowlers at the right times and basically can kill a game in one spell of bowlers.

Believe me JK8, I was watching when they did that to us.

I think sangakara's a good captain (for my money better in the WC than Fleming) but its results that count, and Ponting beats him.

I gotta agree with chiskop here, now that I think about it Ponting really does stand out because he captains well AND puts in the performances game after game. Mind you Smithy isn't a bad captain, Im probably gonna get shot to flames for that comment..he is still a n00b captain compared to the big guns like Ponting etc but still for his age to lead a team like SA out there I give him credit.

Whos captain?
I taught you made a mistake last time...

Ye from a winning perspective Ponting beats him but in desperate time when everything seems lost and some sort of steps need to be taken(with a bit of luck ofcourse) Jayawardene can change games quick and with the help of some very good players they can win a game that should have been lost!!

IMO thats a good captain, Ponting hasnt been tested but then again maybe hes THAT good!

Well more like Hayden, Hayden and pointing. If you look at gillchrist he has struggled along throughout this tournament and when he has scored runs its been a case of getting lucky more than just once or twice. I'd be afraid of him as you have to think that he will come right and is due for a big score sooner or later. Hayden and pointing hold the key tho, get them cheaply and the pressure on symonds will be great especially if its in less that 15 or 20ov.. and thats thing.. if they get the top three out after about 30-35ov then the game has gone acc. to aussies plan. SA need atleast both openers gone inside 20ov.

I doubt ntini is gonna bowl tomrrow.. i was reading a article on news24 about how the team said its unlikely he will play.. might be a way to throw off aussies but i can's see why he'd play. langes swings ball both ways compared to ntini and by choosing nel, lange we have hall and kallis to bowl in final 10ov.

You cant have a new captain, its like if you in a plane and the pilot announces it his first flight!! Youd scared right? Experience when in control and leading very necessarry!!

feo- Smith has played well, but hasn't I think captained well. He has been unable to change course when we've been under pressure (Aus, NZ, Ban). He hasn't been able to dominate or take the game away from the oppostion when we've been ahead (WI). We have a good team, but our tactics really are predictable.

krycor - I picked ntini for man of the tournament. :o More out of optimism than anything else.
