2007 VW Velociti 1.4i Starting Problem

Hello everyone, hope all is well. Im new to this forum.
I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me.
I own a 2007 VW velociti 1.4i and recently ive been having some problems with the car. It doesn't want to start. I know a bit about
cars, the basics if I have to say. But it all happened last week when the car just wouldn't wanna start. The car turns like normal so my brother and I checked the earth,battery,fuel pump relay,fuel pump fuse and the battery their all fine. We then checked the fuel pump and heard nothing. Could it be the fuel pump or something else. Any advice/help would be much appreciated. :)
 
Number of things to check:

  1. Pull the leads off the plugs, hold the leads close to a metal surface. Get your brother to turn the key. You're checking to see if there is a spark from the lead to the metal. Just a word of caution, use something insulated to hold the lead for just in case. Also, do NOT put your hand between the lead and the metal surface unless you've forgotten your shot of caffeine this morning then by all means go ahead. You'll do it once and never again, I can assure you that.
  2. If you suspect the fuel pump, pull the leads off and the plugs out. Take a teaspoon of petrol and chuck it into the firing chambers. Reinsert the plugs and reattach the leads. This is also a good time to check the clearance of your plugs using a feeler gauge.

Thanks a lot guys will do these checks as soon as I get home.
Will check for spark and the bogey cords, just hope its nothing major
 
Usually, if everything is spinning fine, it is simply not getting fuel.

I had precisely this problem with a car on the Tour Natal - they were about to change fuel pumps when I told him to check his fuses first, and sure enough, the fuel pump fuse had blown. Changed the fuse and the car ran like a dream.

We often over analyse why a car isn't starting instead of checking the easy stuff first.
 
Can't remember that motor in detail, but it could also be a faulty crank position sensor (if it has one).

Though, you said you check the fuel pump and heard nothing - so I'd check the fuse for it, and also the relay for it.

doh.

Hmm, need to find someone nearby with VCDS and plug it in and see what gives. There may be error codes which give a hint, and you can probably also see fuel pressures etc.

There is a thread on the VW Club forum with a register of people with VCDS who may be willing to help out
 
Hey guys I sorted out the problem turn out it was a bogey cord. Im so relieved and happy.
