Hey guys, I'm once again in need of your expert advice and opinions. I'm considering buying a 2008 Dodge Nitro 3.7 V6 with 151000km. Anybody know of it and anything I should look out for?

Cool car but again it's American, meaning it was never built with fuel economy in mind. The Nitro is no longer in production here in SA, therefore you might struggle with parts availability. Jeep/Chrysler group is still fully functional though for support.

Unfortunately it's not car I would encourage anyone to buy.

The Dodge Nitro is just a 4th Gen Cherokee in smarter drag. Production ended 2012. I don't think parts should be an issue.

Yes it is heavy on fuel but its looks gives it a certain kerb appeal a number of newer SUV's to this day can't match.

If you can find one at a good price & can allocate for the fuel consumption then why not.

I take it the price is extremely attractive otherwise I seriously don't see why you'd want to invest in this fuel guzzler.

My thoughts and the parts will be a problem because you'll be at the mercy of the stealership, unless OP gets some maintanance plan he is going to have very little options in terms of parts.

But i'll admit though nothing come close to that thing in terms of looks and character, it's a beast.

Thanks guys, I am a sucker for "offside" cars (Peugeots and alfas) but the Nitro just has this presence you can't ignore. Has anyone owned one? Parts and fuel I can deal with but I can't deal with a car that breaks down at every given moment (my former Peugeot 207 GTI being a prime example)

Don't do it. Any American vehicle beyond its maintenance plan is like a big black money pit.
Also if you want 8kms per liter it's the car for you.
