2008 Opel Corsa Lite Sport Idling Problems

Good Afternoon,

I was trying to find a suitable opel forum to post this on but was unable to do so. The advice on this forum looks great and thought i would ask here for advice.

I have a 2008 Corsa lite sport that has been giving me problems.

The problem seems like an over fueling problem. I can smell it in the car when trying to start the car. The car will start but idle very badly and if you put the peddle all the way down the car will stall.

We did a full service on it (plugs, filters, oil, also did plug leads) cleaned the throttle body, checked the injectors and no problem that was noticeable with any of the above.

There is a blue Vacuum pipe( i think) that should be plugged into somewhere. I will attach a photo of the lead and sensor where it is attached to.

Please could someone advise what the sensor is (circled in pink) and where the blue lead should be plugged into?

This isnt a picture of my engine bay. It is identical to the below and found the picture while trying to search for more information regarding the sensor and blue pipe

Hmm not sure what that is, however, you see that sensor with the vacuum pipe to the left of the water bottle? Its the Map sensor, unplug it and start the car, see if it idles better. Also follow its vacuum tube, make sure its got no cracks and is neatly connected.
 
Thank you so much for the reply Gamer. If it does improve the idling what could it mean?
 
Is it the sensor that has the green connector on the left of the bottle?

Thank you again. Ill try the above once i know which 1 is the correct sensor.

It is yes. If the car suddenly idles high and doesn't come down when you have unplugged it then its not that sensor that's the issue, but if it improves and you no longer smell fuel then that's it.
 
I was just at the car now. I went to check the sensor and found that it was unplugged. Plugged it back in and didnt make much of a difference when starting (still struggled) 1st time car died right after starting 2nd time started but had to peddle it to keep it alive. I must have been driving without it today because it was increasingly difficult to start today. More so than normal. Car didnt idle high at all today was actually struggling to get going most of the time.

Follow the tube that comes out of that sensor, make sure its not damaged and plugged in nicely
 
Thank you for the tips Gamer i will do all of the above ASAP and let you know. Still concerned about that Blue pipe that i would assume needs to be connected somewhere as it has a sensor on it.

It definitely should be connected at both ends, I tried checking on my Corsa but I just cannot see where the other end is connected to, it just disappears downwards and beyond that is not clear where it is connected, I will check again tomorrow and will let you know if I find out where is it connected.

A failing coil perhaps?
 
Hi, sorry to gate crash this thread but I am new and have no idea how to start my own post. I have the same problem and was going to buy a new coil on Saturday but I read some where that it could also be a vacuum problem. I started fiddling tonight and gently pulled each pipe off to see if there was a leak/tear in them. The one rubber pipe I pulled off pulled the connector off at the same time. If this had a leaky vacuum would it cause the same problem as the OP?

Yes vacuum leaks causes all sorts of problems like the one described in the OP, I would not have fiddled with that particular pipe though, it is made from fuel pipe grade plastic and it would have been easier to just inspect it.

Do you perhaps know what that valve is called? I need to go buy one today.
