2009 DLF IPL

sigh honestly tell me that Zuma speech. WTF does fifa have to do with the cricket?.
and then the lip syncing the 20min johanhahahahahana honestly >_<

yeah, like the 2010 organisers were responsible for IPL. IPL says nothing about 2010. That's not to say 2010 will fail but IPL was successful because of the IPL team coming in from India and also the availability of large sums of money to get things done in time.

was at the stadium, was absolutely pathetic!

1) they had about 100 lanterns that they were going to light and let float into the sky. the idiots lit them one by one and let them go, jumping and clapping as their solitary lantern floats away. then some guy was running around swearing the people who let their lanterns go, eventually the crowd started throwing glow-sticks at them for being stupid. did they take it as an insult? no! they started chasing the glow-sticks and tackling eachother so they can take it home

2) Jacob Zuma...nuff said!
The moron was boo'ed, called an idiot and the mics gave-in everytime he opened his mouth. Then he couldn't say half the words on his pre-written speach:eek:(probably by Duarte or Malema). then he talked about soccer for 15minutes???

he was boo'ed everytime he came up on the big screen

3)Akon is an idiot! he writes crap music, mimed every song and doesnt know what continent he's on!!?
then he tried to grind Katrina Kaif who wasn't remotely interest.

4) Eddy Grant! welcome to the 60s!! to be honest he was a hundred times better than acorn! he atleast got the crowd moving, and even though he was probably higher than a kite, he knew where he was!:p

other than that the game was awesome and the fireworks didnt disappoint!

I watched zuma and his speech came across my side fine.

Of course he is talking about the world cup, he was saying look at how well we did this on such short notice and then went onto talk about the confed and world cup because those are 2 massive tournaments for this country. why would he not talk about the soccer world cup and confed when there are security fears and people think we cannot host either? The ipl showed we can host anything even if we have 3 weeks notice. His speech was long but i am glad he spoke about the world cup and confed cup sot he tourists can see we are more than capable.

I did not hear the booing from my side, the other way around in fact in and honestly those people booing him are just being lame and not looking at the bigger picture, we are going to host 2 massive comps in the next year and a bit, it is time the idiots in SA start realizing that those comps are bigger than booing your president however much you dislike him.

I was hoping he would also mention that we are hosting the ICC Champions Trophy later in the year seeing as it was a cricket audience. Something along the lines of "see you at the ICC champions trophy India!"

Ok I have been watching too many Raj adverts (and Akon performances)

+1.

I enjoyed it!!!

Akon wasnt supposed to be performing, was a last minute thing, hes in the country to make a song for the Confed cup so he didnt he his "crew"

The rest was poorly planned but still came together nicely... like a normal Indian wedding lol!!!

Fireworks were awesome!!!!! Poor animals lol!

Regarding JZ... I wish I knew he would be there, shoulda brought some eggs lol!!
Katrina OMFW!!!!!!!! Love that women!!

Miss IPL was also a bit of a flop, but I just think the whole excitement of them being here and the entertainment provided out did the poor planning, it was never supposed to be a prim and proper event, it was wild and mad just how it supposed to be!:p

most of you guys have quite a few negative comments about the closing ceremony (akon, organisation, zuma, sound etc).

I personally have not seen a closing ceremony in this country that was this good. In fact i dont even know if any sport in SA has had a closing ceremony. For cricket itself, World cup 2003 - no closing ceremony or anything spectacular, T20 world cup 2007 - same.

RWC Finals, they had the boeings fly over the stadium - but apart from that?
