2010/2011 Transfer Thread

Hleb and cole cld play wide. Hleb made the biggest mistake of his life leaving Arsenal, and I think he knows it!

But it's not their natural game. We still need a winger who'll hug the touchline and spread the opponent's defence

Aqualani brings lots of width to Liverpool midfield. For 25 mins he plays almost central midfielder and the previous 65 mins he plays way out wide on the bench.

can somebody explain the whole Gosling fiasco?

Verbal contract extension was in place, club did not send in the paperwork and Gosling was released automatically. He got miffed and refused to sign new contract... et voila, he's at another club.

I hope Sol stays... very keen to see him at Arsenal for another full season.

nah refering to Milner and Balotelli. City have to have the most expensive bench in the world.

Expensive is the key word there. Neither Balotelli (as it stands) nor Milner (ever will be) are worth that much money. Why they are going for Milner is beyond me, they could make a better push for Ramires who is actually a quality player and is going for around 12 million. Oh well...

Didn't Milner win PFA young player of the year last season?

Yeah, but at 24 he wasn't exactly "young" in the traditional sense of the word... ie: Under 21. He didn't play in major European competitions so he wasn't really tested against the big boys. He did do well in the Premier League but it just isn't enough to justify that price tag. I say never will be worth it because I just don't see him doing a good job for a really top class team. However, I could be wrong but there you go.

Also consider this... Adam Johnson is 19 and has shown signs of true potential as a winger. City also have Silva. He will get about as much game-time as Wright-Phillips did at Chelsea. If it isn't those two then Mancini will go for Balotelli/Tevez supporting the target man (Adebayor). They would need to go through an injury crisis of epic proportions to get a sniff of first team footy.
