2010/2011 Transfer Thread

A team would find it very difficult to find a good reserve keeper to sit on the bench when your number 1 is Cech.

Not really... Cudicini was a great goalie when he was a regular for us and we bougtht Cech as cover. One injury and a properly used cameo later... legend! What with Cech's variety of injuries and the lacklustre performances of the other two (though Hilario really isn't THAT bad) any goalie worth their salt should be jumping at the chance. I reckon that's why we went for Asmir Begovic. He's around the same age as Cech was when he signed for us so it would give him a kick up the backside to start performing uber-well.

/ramble ramble ramble :)

I was hoping Chelsea would go for someone on D-day

I would have liked inter to do something on d-day as well. Would have liked a left winger/forward. But I guess this gives the youngsters a chance to prove themselves.

What's the story with Spurs buying Pletikosa? They've already got Gomes and Cudicini. Doesn't make much sense to me.

It doesn't make sense but, "Redknapp is hoping the experienced Croat will provide cover and competition for current goalkeepers Heurelho Gomes and Carlo Cudicini".

I'm all for competition but it still doesn't make much sense.
...and watching Wenger not buying another GK makes it seem even more odd. Maybe I'm a little jealous of them :erm:

Just makes me sad for RVP all over again. Any news on how long he will be out. Last I heard 4-5 weeks.

If we assume what the Dutch FA's medical team have diagnosed is correct, then yes 4-5 weeks sounds about right. Although, I would wait for Arsenal to confirm it as Arsene did say it would be 10 days.

True it is a sad day but, I'm envious of the SCUM getting such a great player.

I doubt he will do much better than Modric or Kranjaer has done - I don't know if Van der Vaart would be suited to the EPL - he has no real pace of note and I would think he might struggle in the League matches at least. Remember Andy van der Meyde was the best of that Ajax lot (Sjneider, van der Vaart, Zlatan, Dani, Chivu and Mido) yet struggled at Inter and in the EPL. But who knows...

I'm not too sure. Sneijder is better but, van der Vaart can make it.

100% Confirmed, Van der Vaart has been signed for Spurs
