Felipe Massa - local hero with a point to prove

The Brazilian crowd is a partisan bunch. Even though he didn’t turn a single lap of Interlagos, some of the biggest cheers at last year’s Brazilian Grand Prix were reserved for local hero Felipe Massa. Still recovering from the injuries sustained in his dramatic crash at the Hungarian Grand Prix a few months earlier, Massa waved the chequered flag and soaked up the adoration of his fans.

Going to be an interesting race:).

Nah, one of the Red Bulls will take it. Hamilton will try too hard and make a stupid decision somewhere. Seen it happen a few times this year.

All I hope for is that Alonso finshes ahead of Webber. Really hope he takes the championship!

No i hope alonso and webber don't finish and vettel and the ham get some good points and we go into the final race with 4 possibles :D

Yea logic fails sometimes and honestly they need to allow team orders or ban it and punish teams severely. This whole you are not allowed to but we won't really enforce the law is BS.

The FIA seems to always have these ghost rules - they should make proper rules so teams know where they stand.

As much as I dispise seeing the net effect of team orders (someone being "passed") you can't say you don't understand why a team tries to do it. In the case of Ferrari, Felipe is not really contesting this championship, but every point Fernando gets is vital.

As much as it pains me to say it (it will prob never happen due to viewers being unhappy - so I can say it :D) I think the teams should be Fully in charge of THEIR team.

No teams orders makes for better viewing though, because team mates can fight it out for the championship instead of a season being dominated by one driver due to team orders.

Agreed.... It's just if I were investing lots of money into a "spectacle", I would sure as Bob want to get everything I could out of it with my team.
Again, I am not condoning team orders, just giving a different perspective.

And with Alan's post, I sure as hell don't think Ferrari will be doing it this race :D

Well it was not really that amazing because hulkenburg setup his car for the wet, so the race is going to be dry today which means his car is going to be far far slower.

So good on him for getting pole but it came at a price.

Button escapes ambush

Jenson Button escaped without injury following an armed attack on the car carrying the Brit away from the Interlagos circuit in Sao Paulo.

Button's father John, manager Richard Goddard and trainer Mike Collier were also in the car when the incident occurred after qualifying for the Brazilian Grand Prix.

A police driver acted swifty to see off the danger and Button managed to escape and return to his hotel.

Button is quoted as saying: "We were going back from the track and were outside a shanty town and moving slowly on a busy road. The next thing I saw was a man with a gun. Our guy angled the car and floored it.

"That's when we saw six men, all of them brandishing machine-guns. My driver was a legend. It was very scary. I don't know whether they knew who it was they were ambushing. I said, 'Isn't that a gun?' and as soon as I said that, the driver angled the car. My driver bounced off about five cars. We were driving over the top of them."

A statement issued by Button's McLaren team read: "On Saturday evening on the way back from the Interlagos circuit to Morumbi [Sao Paulo], armed would-be assailants made an attempt to approach the car that was carrying Jenson Button.

"Neither Jenson nor the other occupants of the car were hurt. The other occupants were John Button [Jenson's father], Mike Collier [Jenson's physio] and Richard Goddard [Jenson's manager].

"Vodafone McLaren Mercedes had provided both Jenson and team-mate Lewis Hamilton with reinforced armoured vehicles driven by police drivers, who had been trained in avoidance techniques and were armed.

"The police driver of Jenson's vehicle reacted swiftly and, using avoidance techniques, rapidly forced his way through the traffic, taking Jenson and the other occupants of the car immediately away from any danger and back to their hotel.

"The Sao Paulo authorities have also acted efficiently and will be providing additional security to transfer Jenson and other senior Vodafone McLaren Mercedes personnel to the Interlagos circuit for Sunday's Brazilian Grand Prix."

Eish...

Even though I have a favourite and would prefer him to win, ultimately this year has been an awesome year for F1. When last has it been this exciting with a multi-way title fight...

I have spoken to soo many people on the topic who are so uptight and scared of competition that it is nauseating:sick:

It would be soo much more rewarding to know that you came out on top of a 5/4 - way title fight as apposed to the usual "easier" 1 on 1

Well done to Vettel and Webber and Red Bull..

Here's hoping it all clicks for you guys next race and you walk away with both titles.... you deserve it.

Hamiton now has to win the next race and there must be a freak accident that takes out the other three So basically I'm just happy that Hamilton can't win the championship anymore in reality...

I'd like that freak scenario lol.

But you're right, Redbull do deserve it & I hope they can close the deal. They might just need Ham to prevent that spanish porkchop from getting a podium :)

Well driven by Webber and Vettel. As much as I wanted Alonso to win the race, the truth (as he said) was that he could not stay in touch.
They deserve the constructors.... I just hope Alonso can capture the drivers again!! But that is what is going to make this last one a cracker... Any of the consistent podium finishers can win it.

As for Button, I wonder whether the Brazillians hold grudges for a LOOONG time. Yes in that case I wante Felipe to win the championship, but he didn't.
