Is it just me or is the footage of games (SA vs NAM in particular) provided by SABC of Low Quality?
I thought the images were dull, lacking contrast, and generally murky. I was watching it via DSTV bouquet.

Anybody else agree?

One wonders if this is what they will be sending out during the WC 2010!

I agree Lefty but as discussed at SSC I think that FIFA will have an outside company doing the camera work but SABC bought the broadcast rights from them, kinda like how Sky have the rights to the EPL but Supersport buy broadcasting rights to show on Supersport .

As far as I know super sport actually has the 2010 wc local rights and sabc will be getting the feed from them.

O the world cup will be broadcast in hd almost certain of that, i cannot see any reason why it would not be.

Of course it's going to be in HD... now the SABC claim to the official broadcaster. Surely this means they will be providing the feed and doing the camera work? I agree with the OP that their pictures for the past 2 Bafana games were extremely poor (it looked like they were shot from 2 handy cams).

There is no ways in a million years sabc will be doing the broadcasting. They do not have hd capabilities surely?

They have provided cricket in HD & bought 2 new vans for the WC. This from their website...
The arrival of the second High Definition Outside Broadcast Van was greeted with much excitement at the SABC headquarters in Auckland Park today. The new vans, which carry eighteen HD cameras, feature Wireless HD cameras, digital sound systems, integrated router and multiviewer monitoring system, a larger production control room space and air conditioning systems that can deal with extreme operating temperatures during summer. The SABC will provide three HD vans to cover the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup.
Looks like they will be providing the pictures.

So then what is the problem if they are proving hd quality picture?

Last weeks Cheetahs vs Highlanders picture was so bad I couldn't watch it.
