I thought this might be fun. If you had to choose one shot that you consider your best shot of the year, what would it be? "Best" could refer to any aspect of the image, or of making the image. It could be something that just leaps off the page. It could be something that is the product of hours of work preparing for. It could be something there the content is everything. It could be something where you like the composition above else. What ever makes you like your image is OK.

Post just one image. Try to make it big enough to view comfortably in the thread but link to a bigger version if you have. Describe why you chose the image.

I'll start it off. This is Wayne Coyne, frontman of Flaming Lips. I like this image because it captures, to some extent, the chaos on stage. Him with his crazy hair and megaphone, the balloons and smoke all over the place. I also feel a sense of accomplishment because the lighting was incredibly difficult. The whole back of the stage was a giant screen displaying all sorts of images - very very bright - so heavy backlight.

Canon EOS 50D, Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L USM
140mm, 1600 ISO, 1/800, f/2.8

P.S. Since I don't have a bigger image on-line, the photo links to a slideshow of the entire Flaming Lips set.

I'll play.

Even though I've put this one up before, it's the one I like the most, so you'll have to look at it again ;)

Canon 40d, Bigma: 500mm; ISO 400; f/8; 1/640s (uncropped)

This is going to be too hard to decide.

He he he! There's no rush.
I had an awesome year. Looking back I photographed Elton John, Bryan Adams, Fatboy Slim, Mango Groove, Barry Hilton, Nadine, Just Jinger, Locnville, K'naan, Danny K, countless other DJs and performers that I can't even remember.

Then there were the things I can't post like weddings, families, and kid's shoots as well as any of the other work I did.

Hopefully I'll find something that's not scraping the barrel. :D

I hear you. The shot I posted was my favourite that's fit for public consumption. There are a couple that I like more that I won't post publicly.

Your best shot of 2010 has a finger on the lens?

Are you gonna post something or just criticise others? ;)

More like someone's head as it's at a gig ;)

What BigAl said. At 140mm and f/2.8, you're not likely to see a stray finger at all.

Don't worry McT, I'm not a pro either :)

Cool thread koffiejunkie. Nice shot of the Kingfisher BigAl.

This is my personal fave. Want to print it 1m x 1m...

I found this extermely difficult to do, choose a best pic.
In 2010 I took about 30 000 photos, which I have now shaved back to keep the ones with least defects.

My favourite thus - maybe not the best, but one of my fabourites
40D + 70-200/2.8 (1/800,f10,ISO200, ExpBias set to -1)

Open Practise WSBK late Friday afternoon....

But how to choose between this and a 48h old pigeon is not easy

I like the contrast between the green in the foreground and the sky, but the cloud seems to have been ghosted to smudge the picture a bit?
