I dunno, but they aren't looking too attractive. Thinking of just buying an SSD and a new battery and sticking out another year. They are due a major upgrade, hopefully next year.

They went from dual core i5 to quad core i7 - what do you expect from a "major upgrade"?
USB3 - fair enough.
Blu-ray - we all know that's not going to happen. Blu-ray support would be nice though.
SSD as standard? How expensive do you want them to be? You can choose it on order anyway.
Higher resolution? I don't want that - things are small enough already, and it's available as an option.
Could have done with more USB ports as well, SSD's should be standard in laptops that cost over 20 000, and for 20k I would think they would give you 8 gigs of ram standard.
Their RAM upgrade prices are just sick, and even worse here, i have been quoted 16 000 for 2 x 4 gig chips at the Melrose Arch store! So ridiculous the dude was laughing when he told me!
Was really keen for some major new hardware, obviously didnt come. the MBP used to always be comparable with the best of the best, now its just the Gfx that is comparable.
Anyways, will be sticking to mine, just get a SSD and new battery. Pooky, i suggest you do the same or sell me yours, cheap![]()
What size SSD would you get phiber? I also really want an SSD... for portability reasons mainly, but also speed would be a huge bonus
I visited the Applestore @ Vodaworld and they said next week. When will the local stores actually have these new MBPs available for purchase?
SDDs are still too small and too expensive to be standard on their pro machines. I've got a 500gb drive in mine and I'm forever having to relocate data to reclaim space.Could have done with more USB ports as well, SSD's should be standard in laptops that cost over 20 000, and for 20k I would think they would give you 8 gigs of ram standard.

Fairly easy for me since the bulk of my drive space is taken up by aperture. I just create a new library when I'm done with the project and move it to external drives.I'm about to start having to do that too.![]()

I'm not getting the distinction. If photos were my work, then I would do that easily. But all mine are personal![]()

As do I which is why I use a script to convert the RAWs to smaller JPGs after I've copied off the library. Huge space saving.Lifestyle difference I guess. I travel a fair bit, see friends, see family. I like to have all my pics with me. Travel is incidentally also almost the only time that I get to spends some time sorting and processing images. Aperture shows that I have just over 3000 images a year, so I should be able to accomodate that on an internal drive at the speed they're getting bigger.
