2012 Calibra?

Not sure how many folks recall the '88 Vectra based Calibra? Well it seems they have plans to revive the Calibra name and true to its roots this is very much an Insignia thats been sexified in coupe form.

Also like the Insignia I very much doubt we'll be getting this in SA.

Funny that you mention the Calibra Roux as my new neighbour in the complex as one. Needs a bit TLC but very nice car. My only memory of this car is that it was fun to play with in Gran Turismo 2

And yup agreed, new car's front looks funny, back is schweet.

Old calibra was awesome! My uncle had a red one in the early 90s. It was sleek and sporty.
This new one looks bulky, is it competing with the Continental?

I also see the resemblance with the Bentley Continental, but if you look at the Insignia upon which this is based then you can see where it comes from. The shark teeth OPC look will no doubt be toned down a bit in non OPC versions. I kinda like it, will be cool to see what the next Corsa OPC looks like with shark teeth.

Its a pitty we never got the Vectra upon which the old Calibra was based, it was way ahead of its time for the late 80's and early 90's and certainly was a massive improvement over the Ascona that it replaced.

I'm guessing this one will also have 4x4 like the Insignia OPC but don't expect quattro like handling, Fifth Gear tried it out in the rain and found it to be not as surefooted as a quattro - but still a nice ride.
