So I havent driven my mates car for a few weeks, busy with work and life...Today the battery was flat..Sorted that out and now I see the radio says Safe 1000

I have removed the radio but still cant find the code, just some barcodes. Does anyone know whats what with this? Do I now have to take it to a stealer? I checked in the owners book and there isnt anything there either...

I see there are online options to enter this VWZ number that was on the radio but all want 15 quid or 10 dollars etc...

Check owners manual. Serial number on the radio itself is what the dealer will ask for.

Ja, I managed to get a pic of that. What a pain in the ass...do these codes change everytime? Im sure my mate did this when he swopped the battery a few years ago, hoping he managed to write it down somewhere.

So I stopped at a VW on my way to work this morning... R300 to get the code as apparently it takes an hour... Lol... You can no longer just enter that VWZ code... Seems it has to be plugged into the diagnostics computer...

These stealerships don't play. Just pay and move on.

Nuts, what a stupid thing to have to pay money for.

Put that R300 towards replacing the factory fitted radio entirely.

Well... I again havent had time to drive my mates car for a while but when i got in today to take it for a quick spin... The radio now works...

two options:
Contact 1 Stop Car Audio in Midrand (most stealerships go to them) - they will need the serial number
find and download the 'Blaupunkt Serial number decoder' - it is a stand-alone app that decodes the serial number and gives you up to 2 possible codes.
