I support this. Not only does it give more players exposure but the players that play from the start of the tournament get to finish it.

I actually agree with this. Our BoK players have been playing since the beginning of the year. They played in the inbound series when the rest of the super rugby players rested for a few weeks.

Now its still the rugby championship and after the currie cup is over its the year end of year tour.

Guess they want the boks to rest a bit to manage the fatigue

Mixed feelings I have. I appreciate the need to rest the players and keep them injury free, but it will take the edge off the games.

The flipside is that it gives teams to throw some relatively unknown players into the limelight and give them experience in a higher level of play.

Regardless, Sharks will be a force to be reckoned with

World cup year next year. All the rest they can get, grab it and run. We need our best squad fit, ready and hungry!

Only guy I might consider giving some CC match time to is Eben Etzebeth. Not sure if 6 games of Rugby championship (potentially just some time off the bench) is enough to get him back up to full speed. Then again, it is Eben Etzebeth! He could probably get match fit just by playing EA Rugby 2013 (or whatever the latest one is) on his playstation.

You raise a valid point re the 'star attraction' spectacle of the "watered down" CC, but at the same time, quite a majority of the CC players would've done time in the Super Rugby comp and as such, while they may not have cracked the Bok makeup, would've had their star rise immeasurably. Players S'bu Sithole, Nizaam Carr and Marnitz Boshoff (unless he makes the squad) are just a few that will provide enough quality to keep the CC a relatively entertaining competition.

I'm all against a watered down Currie Cup...dammit, it's our premier domestic competition and should get top priority. Now we have Super Rugby from Feb to August and then there aren't enough weekends for a full double round of Currie Cup, so some of the teams will only play each other once...lop sided if you ask me.
