Agree, but he disabled the ball carrier. Ankle tap is the in thing today, even when the runner decides to ease up. Forwards even want to tap-tackle players running the ball out the ruck. A good tackle is when a tackler utilise both his arms.

When tackling on the line they tend to go for body tackles, especially if they can knock the ball loose. Isn't always possible when making desperate tackles, though.
 
In my schooldays, Coach Brewis gave us cuts if we touched a player above the waist. All tackles had to be 2 arms around the legs.
You might see that once per game today.
So effective.

Lions coach ignores Currie Cup final mind games

Mental games are part and parcel of the build-up to Absa Currie Cup finals, but Lions coach Johan Ackermann said today the fact that Province are calling the Lions favourites is a bit far-fetched.

“That they call us favourites are a bit of a mind game, I also heard them say they don’t lose at Newlands, but I believe they definitely don’t want to go into the game as favourites,” said Ackermann today at the Lions training at the Johannesburg Athletic Stadium.

“They ended up on the top of the log and playing at home you have to be favourites,” said Ackermann.
Ackermann said while Newlands was a daunting stadium to play at, it is a great stadium.

“The one thing you know you’re going to get at Newlands is a good crowd and a very hostile one, one that stands behind their team, even when things go tough,” he said.

“It’s a great place to play at – I always tell the players if you haven’t experienced Test rugby and you run out at Newlands, it’s close to it, I think the pitch surface and the atmosphere is close to what you get in New Zealand.

“I tell the players as long as you keep to the structures and processes we’re busy with, and control it, we’ll get the result.”

Is James Dalton is supporting his old team as well, obviously, saying the Lions will win the WP square in the scrums.

It also look like that WP will able to put their best team, again, to play and also seeing Jaco Taute to be ready. I think the Lions will be targeting Carr, crush his hip in every tackle, maul him and destroy him.
