This tuned Audi RS7 Sportback is the 'world’s faster armoured car'
What you’re looking at here is the world’s fastest armoured car, according to its creator. Yes, AddArmor has kitted out the Audi RS7 Sportback with “combat-proven” polycarbonate armour panelling … and more power.
Topping out at 325 km/h and hitting 100 km/h from standstill in a claimed 2,9 seconds, the RS7 has had its twin-turbo 4,0-litre V8 enthusiastically breathed upon (courtesy of an APR Plus Stage II system) to offer whopping claimed figures of 567 kW and 1 085 N.m.
AddArmor says the polycarbonate weave it used on the RS7 is “ten times stronger than ballistic steel” while weighing 60 percent less. The US-based firm says the B4 armour can stop a .44 Magnum round. The glass, meanwhile, comprises a multi-layer mixture of polycarbonate and ballistic glass, which can withstand “prolonged attacks from blunt objects such as bats or cinder blocks”.
Hidden security countermeasures include a sonic sound cannon with a PA system and siren capable of 120 dB. Other security items listed are electric-shock door handles (with an output equivalent to a high-powered taser gun) and pepper-spray dispensers.
So, how much are you looking at here? Well, AddArmor says its special RS7 is priced at $205 000 (which translates to a little less than R2,9-million at the current exchange rate)...
