2016 BMW M4 GTS

Any idea on local pricing? As I mentioned, my wife is in love. I've seen around the $180k mark? So R3mil locally?

"All 700 of BMW's new M4 GTS coupes have been sold before the hardcore machine even hit the showrooms, according to Dutch newspaper Telegraaf.

The Netherlands quota of M4 GTS cars had been entirely snapped up and buyers hoping to secure a car unspoken for in the rest of Europe or farther afield had been told they would be disappointed everywhere.

BMW would neither confirm nor deny at its German headquarters that the model is completely sold out.

With a starting price of 142 600 euros (R2.16m) the M4 GTS is one of the most expensive BMWs that money a buy. The uprated car costs twice as much as a standard M4 coupe.

The M4 GTS borrows the water-injection system fitted to the one-off M4 MotoGP Safety Car (and which dates back to the BMW 801 D2 radial aircraft engine of 1944) to boost the peak power of its iconic three-litre turbo straight-six from 317kW to a fire-breathing 368kW and torque output from 550Nm to 600Nm.

Driving the rear wheels via a specially-tuned seven-speed double-clutch paddle-shift transmission, that's good enough for a 0-100 getaway in 3.8 seconds and a (limited) top speed of 305km/h.

To save weight, the performance junkies in the M skunk works replaced the M4's roof, boot lid, bonnet, adjustable front splitter and even the instrument panel bracing tube with carbon-fibre."

So, even less than a minute?

well for further perspective, a 458 does it in 7.28; a 911 GT3 in 7.27.
So it's in impressive company. And that Clio is crazy quick around that track.
And in saying all that, does anyone care about those lap times, or are they just used for marketing purposes?
