Of course most NB factors would be the ZAR & how GMSA wants to position the new Spark ie. More upmarket than older model; keep the older basic spec model still on sale.

This is cheapest model you can buy of the current car....

125000 for the campus sheesh prices have gone ridiculous, last year when I bought the L it was only R120k, the campus was R109k.

Looks really good actually. All models in Oz-land get a 7" infotainment system as standard that incl Apple CarPlay & Android Auto.

I wonder if GMSA will do the same thing when it lands in SA...

So it is the Opel Karl, but it is not a German Opel, then again the Koreans know how to build reliable cars.

In mainland Europe, the Viva will be sold as the Opel Karl (after Carl Opel, one of Opel founder Adam Opel’s three sons), and it should continue to be called the Chevrolet Spark in North America, where the current model was only released in 2012.

It will be GM’s cheapest model in most markets, including Germany, where it will replace the Suzuki Splash-based Agila, positioned beneath the highly customisable three-door Opel Adam hatch, which is priced from €10,785 ($15,825), and Opel’s fifth-generation Corsa, which has just been launched in Germany and could also be sold here.

Slightly O/T but it seems the folks down under will be getting the new Opel Antara/Buick Envision, something I doubt GMSA will bring. So it remains to be seen if we get the new Spark.

While the Barina Spark successor is odds-on to continue to be imported here from Korea next year, one model that almost certainly will come to Australia from Opel in Germany (apart from the next Insignia as Holden’s new Commodore), is an all-new ‘flagship’ SUV.

Last week GM CEO Mary Barra announced production of a new SUV at Opel’s ‘mother plant’ in Rüsselsheim by the end of the decade.

No doubt Up! will feel a class above ito of build & ride quality.

I get that the Opel version is a 'luxury' model, but I prefer the Capitva for it's 7 seat configuration.

Until now, the go-to car for people who wanted a subcompact hatchback for not a lot of money has been the Honda Fit. However, Chevrolet might have a perfect alternative in the shape of the all-new Spark.

This review by Consumer Reports is kind of puzzling because it compares the Spark to the Ford Fiesta and Honda Fit. In reality, that's the job of the Sonic models, but we'll have to let that slide.

We already know that the 1.4-liter engine is much better than before. It's available on several European models, and a direct injection system gives it extra punch. It's still matched to a fuel-saving CVT, but Consumer Reports considers it's as refined as a normal automatic most of the time and even outclasses the Honda Fit.

The exterior styling is sober, nothing like the car that appeared in the Transformers movie franchise. Chevrolet has figured out that the people who buy this car aren't all that young. On the inside, it's not exactly as classy as a Volvo, but it's a step in the right direction. Hey, what do you expect from something that starts at $12,660?

Even though this Chevy is tiny and is made in Korea, it still comes with a feature every American driver values. The reversing camera is standard. Did you hear that MINI? The handling makes the Mitsubishi Mirage and Smart Fortwo seem like "klutzes" says the CR editor. Overall, we think that means the Spark is going to be a winner.

The 2016 Chevrolet Spark is currently sold in three different guises called LS, 1LT, and 2LT. Offered with a 5-speed manual, customers can also equip the Spark with a CVT. Of course, GM OnStar with 4GLTE and a Wi-Fi hotspot come as standard, too. But the best thing of all is that it will get up to 41 mph on the highway.

how does that work? is it a uncapped service, so if you park someplace you can let others browse the net with your car?

I assume it has a built in modem and you need to put in your sim card (from your provider, whom ever that might be).
 
All new GM products come with IntelliLink R4.0 that has the ability to offer a 4G based Wi-Fi hotspot. You'll have to provide the SIM card for it.
