2016 Hyundai Santa Fe

Minor on the outside but some decent changes on the interior and that is all that was needed really.
Look muuuuch better than it did before and with an infotainment system finally!

But the instrument cluster doesn't have the fancy little 3d looking screens at the center of the speedo and rev gauge anymore
:erm: I loved those.

Local Hyundai & Kia spec cars still have a Stone Age system.

So when this hits SA it is fairly likely to have a crappy low-res screen

It's in town & it ain't cheap.

Very small local model range...

Prices

Santa Fe R2.2 2WD 5-seater Elite - R659 900
Santa Fe R2.2 4WD 7-seater Elite - R699 900

The prices of the above range include a five-year or 90 000km service plan, and a five-year or 150 000km warranty and roadside assistance. Service intervals are set every 15 000km.

No doubt like local Kia & Hyundai brands it will have a crappy low rez infotainment system...

Looks like I stand correct:

"The interior has definitely undergone a step-up compared with the outgoing model. Gone is the small infotainment screen, which has been replaced by a larger unit and a control panel below it. On either sides of this screen the angled ventilation slats remain."

This says it all really...

"It was only two and half years ago that we tested the (then new) Hyundai Santa Fe. At the time it was the first production Hyundai to cost in excess of R500 000 in South Africa.

Fast forward to 2015, and inflation as well as a weaker rand has taken its toll on imported brands, with the updated Santa Fe now starting at R659 900 for the two-wheel drive, five-seater Elite, and R699 900 for the all-wheel drive, seven-seater Elite."

*claps hands*

A half decent infotainment system in a Hyundai SA product

That price though...fudge...

"The five-seater Hyundai Santa Fe retails for R659 900 and the price includes a 5-Year / 150 000 km manufacturer’s warranty, 5-Year / 150 000 km of roadside assistance and a 5-Year / 90 000 km service plan with intervals set at 15 000km."

Are you sure you quoted right and it's not supposed to be 660k Monopoly money?

Hehe...could very well be.

As the car reviewer summed up:

The Hyundai Santa Fe continues to appeal for the same reasons it always has... refinement, space and features. But the price is eye-watering. - Hannes Oosthuizen

We Like: Premium feel, looks great, cabin space

We don’t Like: Pricing, fiddly info-tainment system

Don't forget the British...this is a proper alternative as well

Much better alternative IMO.

BTW Land Rover is now owned by Tata. Seems the Brits sold all of their manufacturing capabilities. Lets hope Tata does not start using plywood in Land Rover like it does with its own brands. :erm:

Tata my chance, Tata my Land Rover.

IIRC, they didn't change anything about how they manufacture Jaguars or Land Rovers - ownership just changed.

Yeah, they kind of did change things..

They gave Jaguar/Land Rover heeps of cash and said make it better....
