Nope not an all-new A6 but rather just a MY update.
This shape A6 has been out since 2011 & has aged nicely.

"Quality, design and technology - those are the key selling points for Audi full-size models. With the start of the new model year, the brand is further enhancing its models. On the exterior, changes to the front end of the cars accentuate horizontality: The Audi A6 and Audi A6 Avant feature bold contours that surround the air inlets in the new front apron, and struts in high-gloss black that divide the lateral ventilation grilles horizontally. The side sill and rear bumper are also more angular in shape. A new diffuser provides the finishing touch to the lower rear end.

With the optional S line exterior package, the A6 models display a new radiator grille with a corpus painted matt black. The slats are finished in gloss chrome. Striking chrome struts accentuate the side air inlets; versions with adaptive cruise control are also adorned with chrome rings.

Two new, bold paint colors - matador red and Gotland green - introduce fresh notes to the color range of the Audi A6 and Audi A7 car lines; Gotland green is also available for the S models. The color Java brown - previously exclusive to the Audi A6 allroad - is now also available for the Audi A6, A6 Avant and A7 Sportback. There are two new wheel designs available for the Sedan and Avant, and three for the A7 Sportback."

I can personally easily see a difference between the B8 & B9 A4 but then again I'm a "car guy".

What's more interesting is the press release makes no mention of the Virtual Cockpit option for this MY 2017 A6.

The cheaper & smaller B9 A4 has it an option & the upcoming f/lift A3 has it as well; as an option.

It's well documented that your eyesight is questionable. Especially when it comes to VW's...

Seriously though I think there are two camps:

1) Those who can see a difference between recent (new) Audi models

2) Those who can't see a difference between recent (new) Audi models

It's not a "fanboi" thing

One really has to have an eye for detail when it comes to Audi, as they make very subtle changes.

Sometimes I wonder, why are we looking for huge changes on the outside?

Look at the new Sportage, big changes but consensus is it is ugly. So if your target market likes your current designs, why should you be making huge changes?

I agree. Also with VAG, they have a huge variety of optional items, like wheels for example. Their sport wheels are super sexy, so if you opt to buy the basic model , and just purchase the sportier wheel, it changes everything.

Hopefully Audi will surprise us by giving us something a bit less restrained.

Am I the only one who sees a bit of Lambo styling in those rear lights that look a bit like arrows? Since Audi owns Lambo i wouldn't be surprised

I see where you are coming from wrt the subtle Lambo detailing in the lights.

I bet you dollars to donuts the lambo design squad cribbed off the audi template.

As per my previous quote in the B9 A4 thread, the A6 does not share the same architecture as the new A3, A4, Q7 and the new R8.

So the A6 won't come with the option of virtual cockpit until the actual model range is updated, not just an MY update.

Same goes for the following models:

A1
Q3
Q5
A6
A7

Q2 - not sure if this little guy will come with the new stuff seeming that it is a brand new design.
Q3
Q5
