Facelift to the space age-looking C4 Picasso. The "Grand" is a stretched version & carries 7-seats. It's not offered locally.

Drove the pre-facelift C4 Picasso for a day a few weeks back... Was a surprisingly nice car to drive.

Another model not destined for SA.

Sent an email last week to Citroen Tygervalley about the lack of local options. Received a one line from the DP that it's not in there hands and to address it with Citroen SA. Citroen Tygervalley is owned by Mekor.

The pre-f/lift was. I saw one two days ago...lovely car.

Should be able to find demo or run out stock models.

Citroen C4 MPVs drop Picasso name for Spacetourer

Firm says C4 Spacetourer and Grand C4 Spacetourer monikers are more closely aligned with its largest people carrier

Citroën has dropped the Picasso name from its C4 MPV models in favour of Spacetourer in an effort to align them more closely with its largest people carrier.

A spokesman told Autocar that the newly named C4 Spacetourer and Grand C4 Spacetourer models would now have “a better synergy” with the brand’s larger Spacetourer MPV, which can seat up to nine passengers.

The Picasso name, which has been used on the C4 five and seven-seat MPVs since their birth in 2006, was said to have created an unwanted “break between the mid and large-sized MPVs”.

Citroën said the clearer alignment would better illustrate the trio of Spacetourer models’ close relationship. They’re all built on the EMP2 platform.

Sales of the C4 MPV models have remained strong despite a downturn in the segment’s demand. Citroën sold 99,254 C4 Picassos and Grand C4 Picassos in Europe last year, although that was a 7013-unit decrease on 2016’s total.

The Spacetourer, which was been in production since 2016, falls into a more niche segment and its sales reflect that. The firm sold 8837 Spacetourers in 2017, but the model was in heaviest demand at the end of the year, suggesting it will drastically improve on that number in 2018.

While Citroën’s European sales have remained strong, the brand struggles in China, where its sales were down 47.3% in 2017 amid a slowing economy. Brand boss Linda Jackson told Autocar earlier this year that, excluding China, Citroën's sales rose by 7.5% in 2017.

Citroën’s smallest people carrier, the Berlingo Multispace, is about to be replaced with a new version that will be displayed at the Geneva motor show next week. The new model, which is also built on the EMP2 platform, has inherited the brand’s latest design language.

Citroen ends production of five-seat C4 Spacetourer

New C5 Aircross to fill five-seat MPV gap in French manufacturer’s line-up

Citroën has ceased production of its five-seat C4 Spacetourer MPV, citing the enhanced practicality offered by the new C5 Aircross and declining MPV sales.

The Spacetourer, introduced in early 2018 as a renamed and updated version of the Picasso, will remain on sale until UK dealership stocks have run out.

The larger seven-seat Grand Spacetourer will remain on sale for the foreseeable future, with the brand’s MPV line-up now topped by the nine-seat van-based Spacetourer.

A company spokesperson said the new C5 Aircross compact SUV, launched last year as a rival to the Volkswagen Tiguan and Skoda Karoq, offers a level of modularity that renders the five-seat Spacetourer redundant.

Just 1600 five-seat Spacetourers were sold in the UK last year, compared to 5500 nine-seat Grand Spacetourers. Citroen expects to sell 9000 units of the new C5 Aircross this year.

Citroën to end production of Grand C4 Spacetourer

One of the last remaining traditional MPVs left on sale will bow out in July

Production of the Citroën Grand C4 Spacetourer will end in July, with Citroën citing changing customer buying habits and a greater focus on its SUV range.

The seven-seat MPV, which first rolled out of the factory in 2014, has already been indirectly replaced by the ë-Berlingo and ë-Spacetourer van-based electric MPVs.

The combustion-fuelled versions of these models were taken off sale earlier this year.

UK sales of the Grand C4 Spacetourer ended earlier this month, but Citroën says it has 439 orders still left to deliver before the end of production at its factory in Vigo, Spain. This, the firm adds, demonstrates the car's enduring popularity.

Citroën sold 1026 examples of the Grand C4 Spacetourer in 2021, with an additional 490 before it was pulled off sale. In comparison, just 18 ë-Spacetourers have been sold since its launch in October 2020 and 117 ë-Berlingos since it arrived early last year.

The Grand C4 Spacetourer was sold as the C4 Picasso until 2018 and was also available in five-seat form until 2019, when that smaller car was pulled from sale.
