2017 Ford Fiesta ST200

Show some love to the 'Stang thread...it seems I'm only bloke on there....it's like a wilderness

What exactly are you expecting? Think everyone's already had their say about the sheer bloody-minded idiocy of Ford's pricing, and the disappointment's sucked all the energy out of it. People were excited for an aspirational "working man's sportscar", and instead got something that's priced above luxury cars that kick its backside in every conceivable way.

Limited numbers on the road also means fewer chances for people to talk about having seen them, or post pics. And having seen my first one on the road earlier the week, it's... well... not very interesting, and the matte silver mags/molten orange colour combo looks kind of cheap. But that might just be me being bitter.

I see on the UK forum only 500 are to be built, with 400 for UK and rest of Europe. That leaves the balance for the rest of the non US markets. Looks highly doubtful that we will be getting it. If we do, It wont be more than the Polo. The current ST sell for +/- R300K, so this "should" go for R350K, I think.

You sound rather bitter man...no offense

[...] this "should" go for R350K, I think.

It's that "should" that screws us here in SA.

But I agree, not really likely to see it here in any case. A shame, I know some folks who'd definitely go for a peppier baby ST.

And that's why I'm not in the 'stang thread. :D Let the okes who are still keen go there and enjoy it. Not going to try and take that from them.

^ lol okay. So we won't see your presence by the 'Stang thread

Anyhow captain obvious here but *if* the ST200 hits RSA it will have to be between these two pricing levels:

2018 Ford Fiesta ST - first spy pictures of the next-generation hot hatchback

The next-generation Ford Fiesta ST has been spotted testing for the first time ahead of a potential launch in 2018.

The pictures of the new hot hatchback show it is very similar to the standard Fiesta - which has also been spotted testing - but bigger alloys and uprated brakes can be seen, as well as a large intercooler at the front.

The model will stay front-wheel drive, but these pictures show a five-door model, which would be a first for the hot Fiesta in the UK. A five-door version is on sale in the US, so it looks like this new model has been designed to fit closely to the Blue Oval's 'One Ford' policy to streamline its models for different markets. It is not yet clear, however, whether the UK would still get a three-door variant for the next generation.

Likewise, the 'One Ford' policy could see the manufacturer introduce an automatic gearbox to the Fiesta range for the first time to help it appeal to a wider audience, but a six-speed manual transmission is expected to be offered as standard.

The current Fiesta ST is powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, and while no details of the new model’s powertrain have been announced, it’s expected to get the same set-up. A power hike could be possible for the Renault Sport Clio and Vauxhall Corsa VXR rival, and it could command a slightly higher price than the outgoing model, which starts at £17,745.

A current-generation Fiesta ST can be seen with the prototype in these spy pictures, suggesting Ford has been using it for benchmark testing.

No planned launch date has been set yet, but the special edition Ford Fiesta ST200 has only recently gone on sale, and the standard Fiesta is set for a 2017 release date, so the next-generation ST will be released after that, possibly in 2018, with a public debut slated for late next year.

Hmm, that intercooler suggest a significant power hike.

And this....

the special edition Ford Fiesta ST200 has only recently gone on sale,

So we not getting it at all then.

I still think the Fiesta ST is awesome. If it was automatic, it would have been perfect.

The Autocar test sums up what I was thinking about the ST200. A Revo stage 1 map at R5500 on a normal ST will give you way more performance than the ST200 at X more

Miss my ST , the Fist is such a fun car and fits in tiny spaces , suspension is bloody hard , that i do not miss .
The new price on the Fist at 313K is criminal .
