As I gaze into my crystal ball I predict:

That Honda will have a spring clean. Brio and Amaze will go. A cheap Jazz will come. The Ballade will disappear and so will the HR-V. The BR-V is so good.

Suzuki will have the Ignis, Baleno, Vitara and Jiminy. That is all, no more Swift.

Renault will clean out the many of the variants and drop Megane, Captur and Kadjar.

Opel will have Corsa, Astra and Mokka, no sedans.

Nissan will have a Micra, Juke and Qashqai. X Trail maybe.

Mazda will go 2, CX3 and CX5 Of course some MX-5.

Hyundai will have a massive garage sale and lose Accent, i30 and Veloster.

Feel free to debate and add other models of manufacturers that will disappear.

The total sales volume simply can't justify the huge number of variants.

A certain bet is that automatic transmissions are going to replace the manual box.

I don't think you right on the Megane it is one of Renault top sellers, as for the Brio I cannot wait to see it gone, especially the hatch with that horrible rear.

Nissan's Sentra is going for sure, the Almera will be retained in it's cheap and ugly format.

Hyundai will probably give the Veloster another chance with a facelift since they are having intentions to play in the hot hatch segment but they will have to do something with the pricing.

Why do you guys hate Honda Brio I drive it nice little car the only downside about the car is the boot space.

I have seen few brio's around Rustenburg and Joburg so I don't think Honda will take it off anytime soon.

I looked at the NAAMSA sales.
In February 2016 221 Brios were sold. In September 2016 90 were sold.
All dealers have to have models on their floor and is it really worth the investment to have a range of 6 variances on the floor if only 90 are sold nationally?
This does not only apply to the Brio but to all low volume models with a large number of variants.

Nothing wrong with the Brio in the segment that it competes in. You're not going to get sports-coupe styling at that price...

Disagree with all points from OP:

- Brio; Ballade & HR-V will stay.

- Swift will stay; quirky Ignis will be a good seller though.

- All the mentioned Renault models will stay.

- The Opel sedan story...hmm...I see an all new model in about a year based on Astra K

- New Micra will be a good seller & all SUV's remain

- Mazda 3 internationallly will be a good seller as well. It's making big inroads in Aus

- Hyundai will not drop i30; there is all new model + upcoming N performance derivative man + Veloster is still their halo car

Lastly manual boxes will still remain on the absolute vast majority of bread & butter cars. Further up the pricing ladder not so much but still here & there.

All my 2c of course.

Look at the volumes of Fiat, Alfa and Subaru.

Just how the heck do they justify an investment?

Perhaps someone can comment on the fate of other makes.

The car is very nice from the front until you get to the back where everything nice you saw is quickly forgotten, I just can't understand why could not let the car be? Why did they have to squash it like that?.....

Which one do you have, hatch or sedan?

Okay the brio is not doing well in terms of sales but it's honda's first try in the small car market group. I always think little brio will stay

Well, I have to disagree with most of your predictions.

I don't see any ohter Honda's model disappearing. Most of the other Honda's model that have poor sales have already been discontinued such as Tourer, Accord, Mobilio.

The only Suzuki's that will go away will probably be the Grand Vitara and Splash. The SX4 will struggle a bit. The rest will stay.

I don't see any Renault disappearing. I think the new launched Megane will do okay, time will tell. The previous one was going to die out anyway.

I don't see any Opel's going away just yet, so they will stay.

The only Nissan that will probably go away is Patrol, 370Z, Sentra, Leaf and NV200 The rest will stay.

I don't see any Mazda's disappearing except mabye for the Mazda BT-50.

The only Hyundai I see leaving will be probably be the Veloster, the rest will stay.

My other predictions that will these other models will probably die out:

SsangYong Rexton, Korando
Lexus LS, GS, CT, RC, LX
Infiniti QX50, QX70, QX80, Q50, Q70
Chrysler Voyager, 300C
Citroen DS3 Cabrio, C1, Dispatch, C4 Picasso
Fiat 500L
Alfa Mito
Mini Paceman
Maserati GranCabrio
Chevrolet Orlando
Mitsubishi Outlander, Mirage
Subaru Legacy, BRZ, WRX,Outback
Bentley Continental
Peugeot 308, 2008
Volvo V60
BMW i3
Abarth 500
Jaguar XJ
Audi A8, A7 Sportback
Porsche Panamera
VW Beetle/Cabrio, CC, Golf Cabriolet
Kia Sedona

Of course these are just my predictions, I might be wrong.

I think Datsun Go should go plus it's not safe

The only way to make it it go away is for consumers to stop buying them. Manufacturers will only pull out certain models if the sales do badly. Such as Mazda6, Honda Accord, Suzuki Kizashi etc.
