2018 Commonwealth Games thread

Awesome result, but where's all the sub-10 guys? Simbine time 10.03

Yip was thinking the same, although v pleased we doing so well in Athletics.

A few years ago 10.05 would't barely have made it to the finals....!

And Caster makes it medal #20 for TeamSA with Gold in the 1500m

And made it look so easy. Sitting back until the last 200m before turning on the afterburners!

New Games Record as well. 4:00.72 (edit. Official time adjusted down to 4:00.71)

/edit - probably not including the medals in the post above this!

Did anyone check their athletes for sandpaper? Could provide that extra grip out of the starting blocks...

Naaice!

I saw Wenda's race. She was doing great with 110m remaining and then started fading but dug in deep to just hold on for bronze.

Athletics: SILVER!!! Awesome team effort by @KINGBRUINTJIES Emile Erasmus @_ambitious_jay @AkaniSimbine taking second place in the men's 4x100m relay final in a national record of 38.24. Brilliant! #TeamMzansi #GC2018

Just saw the replay of the 4 x 100m relay. Simbine is seriously quick (as if it wasn't already proved in the individual 100m). The way he hauled in the English runner was crazy! A better third leg and we'd have walked the gold.

It's so amazing to see us competing on this stage now. When the commentators consider you a powerhouse of athletics, you know you're onto something good.

We just need more backing now from sponsors and government and we can surely take it to the Americans and the Jamaicans.

Ah, was just on the Supersport site hey. Not sure if I can post a link from there on here.

Trying this...

farkin 'ell, look at Simbine...he makes the rest of them look like they walking down the final stretch! takes over 3 or 4 contestants?
surely one of the best endings i've seen in a sprint race. :wtf:

Ugh, Blitzboks! Threw away a 14 - 0 halftime lead against England in the bronze medal match eventually going down 21-14.

bliksem blitzboks! lost to England so no medal at all....
