1st pics of updated Captur.

The New Renault Captur will be unveiled at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show. With an upgraded design, inside and out, and the arrival of new equipment, the top-selling B-segment crossover in Europe (215,670 units in 2016) fully intends to retain its leadership.

Even more personalisation possibilities

New Renault Captur keeps the essentials responsible for its success, including its two-tone body colour option. Personalisation possibilities have been extended with two new body colours: Desert Orange and Ocean Blue, and a new roof colour, Mercury Silver. Motorists can choose from 36 different combinations to create their very own Captur.

New Renault Captur steps up the differentiation game with seven interior personalisation packs including a variety of colours - Ivory, Blue, Caramel, Red, Satin Chrome and Smoked Chrome - and five exterior packs: Ivory, Blue, Cappuccino, Red, and Orange (for the hub caps and side sill protector).

Brand-identity lighting signature

As with the Brand's latest models, New Captur is equipped with full LED "Pure Vision" headlights (depending on version). This technology sharpens the car's looks and improves safety while providing greater efficiency. LED daytime running lights are built into the lower bumper in a C shape, forming the brand's light signature. The rear lights feature the same signature, visible day and night.

More emphatic crossover design

New Renault Captur has been redesigned to strengthen kinship with its big brother, Kadjar. The grille has been upgraded to more closely resemble that of Renault's other crossovers, notably with a chrome strip. Front and rear, the bumper includes new skid plates underscoring New Captur's adventurous personality.

Three types of wheel are available across the range: one 16-inch rim (Adventure) and two 17-inch wheels (Emotion and Explore).

Fixed glass roof

From the third trim level up, Renault Captur can be fitted with a fixed glass roof. Available only in two-tone configuration, the new feature improves ambient light in the cabin.

Facelifted Renault Captur revealed ahead of Geneva debut

Europe’s best-selling compact crossover gets design tweaks and more equipment

The facelifted Renault Captur has been revealed and gets a refreshed design inside and out, as well as an upgraded equipment list.

The Captur is the best-selling B-segment crossover in Europe, with 215,670 examples sold in 2016, and has now received some light tweaks to keep it fresh.

It keeps its two-tone body colour option and now has another two colours to choose from, as well as a new roof colour. In all, there are now 36 different colour combinations for the Captur, as well as a new choice of interior and exterior personalisation packs.

Keeping it in line with other new Renault models, the facelifted Captur gets full LED headlights available as an option, with LED daytime running lights.

Renault also says it’s given it an updated front end to help it closer resemble its bigger brother, the Kadjar. Changes include a chrome strip on the grille, as well as new skid plates on the front and rear bumpers.

There’s a choice of three wheels: one 16in and two 17in options. Engines are expected to carry over from the current model, meaning it will offer the option of a 0.9-litre petrol, 1.2-litre petrol or 1.5-litre diesel.

The updated Captur also gets a fixed glass roof, depending on the trim level you choose, which is available only in two-tone configuration.

The current Captur costs from £14,945 with prices rising to £22,610 for the range-topping model. With only very mild updates, prices are not expected to increase for the facelifted model.

The car is a key rival to the likes of the Kia Soul and Nissan Juke.

Facelifted Renault Captur Revealed

Renault's popular compact family car/crossover is getting a new look for 2018. It will be officially revealed at next week’s Geneva motor show.

The Renault Captur is Europe’s best-selling B-Segment crossover, has lit up the sales charts locally and, in dCi Dynamique guise, was a finalist in the compact family car category of the Cars.co.za Consumer Awards, powered by Wesbank. The refreshed model will build on the personalisation possibilities with more exterior colour combinations as well as 36 different interior combinations.

A new lighting signature (for the front and rear lights) has been added and certain models will feature full LED headlights. Other design tweaks include an upgraded front grille and a chrome strip that runs through it. The front and rear aprons have also been given skid plates in order to boost the Captur's crossover kerb appeal.

The final detail we have, at the moment, is that a fixed glass roof can now be specced. More details will be available once the car is launched in Geneva.

Fresh face for Renault's colourful Captur

Renault has given us a sneak peek of its very mildly updated Captur just ahead of its reveal at next week’s Geneva Motor Show.

Most of the changes apply to an extended range of exterior colour combinations, but some light revisions have happened to the head- and tail-lights and front grille section which is designed to look more like other Renault SUVs such as its bigger sister the Kadjar. The brand’s full LED light option, called ‘Pure Vision’ becomes available on higher specced Capturs, and the LED running lights positioned lower in the bumper get a new C-shaped motif.

The Clio-based crossover also sees new skidplates front and rear, though they’re in place more for aesthetics than true underbody protection. Four new alloy wheel designs have been added – two 16-inchers for lower trim levels, and two 17” options for range toppers. A fixed glass roof is also possible now, but only in combination with two-tone paint and only in high-spec Capturs.

With two new paint choices – Atacama Orange and Ocean Blue – buyers will now have more than 30 colour combos to choose from, but Renault has simplified the process with five pre-paired exterior packages. The personalisation packs also carry on in the cabin, where there are now six options for various upholstery and trim combos.

Renault South Africa can confirm the updated Captur will arrive in the third quarter of this year, but cannot yet guarantee if all of the new items mentioned above will be available locally

SAY HELLO TO THE UPDATED RENAULT CAPTUR CROSSOVER

Since its local launch in 2015, the Renault Captur has been one of best-selling light crossovers in South Africa. And now a facelifted version has been revealed.

Due to make its official bow at the Geneva Motor Show, the updated crossover features a tweaked C-shape lighting signature, new body colours and panoramic fixed glass roof.

The French brand furthermore says that personalisation possibilities have been extended, with as many as seven interior and five exterior packages set to be available, depending on the market. In addition, top-spec models will gain the option of a fixed glass roof.

Other changes include a redesigned grille and new skid plates front and rear. And wheel options? Well, there will be one new 16-inch design and two 17-inch versions.

Renault promises that it will reveal more about the updated cabin, which it says has been “redesigned for enhanced quality”, in Geneva.

Facelifted Renault Captur on sale now priced from £15,355

Europe’s best-selling compact crossover gets design tweaks and more equipment

The facelifted Renault Captur is on sale now priced from £15,355, with first deliveries due this July.

Renault's Kia Soul and Nissan Juke rival, which has earned the accolade of being Europe's best-selling B-segment crossover with 215,670 examples sold in 2016, has received some light tweaks to keep it fresh.

It gets an updated design inside and out, as well as an upgraded equipment list. It comes in five trim levels - Expression+, Dynamique Nav, Dynamique S Nav, Signature X Nav and Signature S Nav - with prices starting from £21,405 for the top-spec models.

Standard features include 16in alloy wheels, a hands-free key card, aircon and a DAB radio. Higher trim models add a 7in touchscreen infotainment system with R-Link smartphone connectivity, sat-nav and Bluetooth, as well as 17in wheels and a Bose six-speaker sound system.

The 2017 Captur keeps the previous car's two-tone body colour option but now has another two colours to choose from, as well as a new roof colour. In all, there are now 36 different colour combinations for the Captur, as well as a new choice of interior and exterior personalisation packs.

Keeping it in line with other new Renault models, the facelifted Captur gets full LED headlights available as an option, with LED daytime running lights

Renault also says it’s given it an updated front end to help it closer resemble its bigger brother, the Kadjar. Changes include a chrome strip on the grille, as well as new skid plates on the front and rear bumpers.

The updated Captur also gets a fixed glass roof, depending on the trim level you choose, which is available only in two-tone configuration.

Engine options are carried over from the outgoing model, so there's a 0.9-litre petrol, 1.2-litre petrol or 1.5-litre diesel that produce between 89bhp and 118bhp. The most frugal, the diesel, can eke out a claimed 78.5mpg combined and emits 95g/km of CO2. In its most potent guise with the 1.5 petrol, the Captur can accelerate from 0-62mph in 9.9sec.

Update: Facelifted Renault Captur Details

Renault's popular compact family car/crossover is getting a new look for 2018. The facelifted Captur was shown at the Geneva Motor Show earlier in the year and is expected to arrive in South Africa in the third quarter of 2017.

What's Changed?

Improved styling and interior quality will ensure that the Captur remains a popular choice in the compact crossover segment.

A new lighting signature (for the front and rear lights) has been added and certain models will feature full LED headlights. Other design tweaks include an upgraded front grille and a chrome strip that runs through it. The front and rear aprons have also been given skid plates in order to boost the Captur's crossover kerb appeal.

A new Platine Grey roof option will be offered and a fixed glass roof can also be fitted if you wish. Renault has also gone to work on the interior, improving overall fit and finish and higher quality materials have been used to enhance perceived interior quality.

Renault will also reportedly offer a new premium Initiale Paris derivative that will feature a chrome grille, sequential LED indicators, metallic grey front and rear skid plates and 17-inch alloy wheels. A number of colours will be offered on this derivative including exclusive Amethyst Black. The interior features Nappa leather upholstery which is also found on the dashboard and steering wheel.

The engine offering will likely remain the same and will include a 0.9-litre, 3-cylinder turbopetrol engine with 66 kW and 135 Nm of torque, as well as a more powerful 1.2-litre turbopetrol with 88 kW and 190 Nm of torque. The 1.5-litre turbodiesel engine offers 66 kW and 220 Nm of torque.

We will keep you updated as more information regarding local specification and pricing becomes available.

Renault Captur Dynamique S Nav dCI 110 review

Should I buy one?

This revised Captur will never set hearts on fire but it will fit the bill for many everyday drivers, offering a well-rounded, likeable car.

This diesel is expensive compared to the petrol versions so unless you’re going to recoup some of that outlay by munching miles – and the average Captur driver is unlikely to be – a petrol-fuelled model makes more sense; the more powerful petrol we’ve already tested with the same equipment costs £19,095, some £2000 cheaper than this oilburner.

UPDATED RENAULT CAPTUR ARRIVES WITH LOWER BASE PRICE

The facelifted Renault Captur has arrived in South Africa, with a new base derivative taking the light crossover’s entry point to a shade below R230 000.

The subtly updated Captur was revealed at Geneva back in March, sporting a fresh C-shaped lighting signature, new body colours and updated wheel designs. Other tweaks include a redesigned grille and new skid plates front and rear.

Inside, Renault says it has used plenty of new plastics. Additional improvements in the cabin include new satin chrome trim, a new soft-touch dashboard and interior panels, along with a newly designed gear-lever, fresh central storage options and a new front row seat central armrest on all but the base model.

The pre-facelift range kicked off with the 66 kW Turbo Expression model, but this has now been replaced by the 66 kW Turbo Blaze variant (with a less impressive standard features list), priced at R229 900, or some R40 000 cheaper than the outgoing Expression.

Meanwhile, the three remaining derivatives – the 66 kW Turbo Dynamique, 66 kW dCi Dynamique and 88 kW Turbo Dynamique – each feature a R5 000 bump in price. In addition, Renault has added a manual version of the 88 kW range-topper, priced some R15 000 less than the dual-clutch model.

As before, there are three engines in the local line-up. The French automaker’s familiar three-cylinder turbo-petrol makes 66 kW and 135 N.m (linked to a five-speed manual), the 1,5-litre turbo-diesel four-pot manages 66 kW and 220 N.m (also with a five-speed stick-shift) and the 1,2-litre turbo-petrol churns out 88 kW and 190 N.m.

All models feature a five-year/150 000 km warranty and a three-year/45 000 km service plan (with intervals of 15 000 km).

Pricing:

Renault Captur 66 kW Turbo Blaze: R229 900
Renault Captur 66 kW Turbo Dynamique: R269 900
Renault Captur 1,5 dCi Dynamique: R294 900
Renault Captur 88 kW Turbo Dynamique: R294 900
Renault Captur 88 kW Turbo Dynamique auto: R309 900
