Honda Passport

The all-new 2019 Honda Passport 5-passenger V6-powered SUV provides a unique combination of on-road driving refinement and off-road adventure capability along with best-in-class interior space.

The all-new Honda Passport will slot between the compact CR-V and three-row Pilot in Honda's award-winning SUV lineup. The model's reinforced unibody frame, powerful direct-injected i-VTEC® V6 engine, fully independent suspension and nimble steering make it an ideal choice for driving long distances or around town. In addition, the robust off-road capability offered by the available Honda i-VTM4™ torque-vectoring all-wheel drive and its four-mode Intelligent Traction Management system means Passport can tackle the kind of tough terrain normally reserved for less refined body-on-frame or off-road focused SUVs.

Designed and developed exclusively by Honda's North America R&D teams in Torrance, California, and Raymond, Ohio, the Passport and its V6 engine will be manufactured at the company's Lincoln, Alabama plant.

2019 Honda Passport revealed as rugged mid-size SUV

Passport slots between the CR-V and three-row Pilot in Honda's American SUV line-up; it's not planned for Europe

Honda has unveiled its new Passport five-seat SUV at the Los Angeles motor show.

The Passport will sit between the CR-V and three-row Pilot in Honda’s American SUV line-up and is pitched as a more capable, rugged model suited to active lifestyles. It has a more purposeful look than the CR-V, with oversized arches that accentuate its 20in alloy wheels and greater ground clearance than the Pilot.

It will arrive with a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine as standard, making it something of an outlier in a category dominated by entry-level four-cylinder engines - but one that will surely appeal to American customers. The i-VTEC powerplant produces 280bhp and 262lb ft and is mated to a nine-speed automatic gearbox.

As standard on top-end Elite models and optionally on Sport, EX-L and Touring models, the Passport features Honda’s i-VTM4 torque-vectoring four-wheel drive system, which is able to send up to 70% of torque to the rear wheels.

Four-wheel drive models can also switch between multiple driving modes for different weather and terrain, including snow, mud and sand, while front-wheel-drive models have a dedicated snowy conditions mode.

Honda claims the Passport delivers best-in-class passenger space and luggage capacity, with push-button folding seats and a segmented underfloor cargo compartment.

EX-L models and above receive an 8.0in touchscreen infotainment system as standard, complete with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone mirroring and a multi-angle rear-view camera. Touring and Elite trims add a premium 10-speaker stereo system, front and rear parking sensors and blindspot monitoring.

All models come with Honda’s suite of safety aids as standard, including lane-keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control and low-speed automatic emergency braking.

The Passport was designed by Honda North America and will be manufactured in the company’s Alabama factory. Like the Pilot, it's based on Honda’s Global Light Truck platform.

There are currently no plans to bring the Passport to the UK. It's due to go on sale in North America early next year.

Restyled and adventure-ready, the 2022 Honda Passport begins arriving at US dealerships with a rugged new exterior design that better reflects its true off-road capabilities and more standard features than ever before. Inspired by the spirit of exploration, the first-ever Honda Passport TrailSport takes Passport's new rugged styling even further.

Reflecting customer demand, the Passport EX-L is now the new entry point for Honda's largest 5-passenger SUV. Packed with standard equipment, such as leather seating, one-touch power moonroof and 20-inch alloy wheels, the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for Passport EX-L with two-wheel drive is $37,870 (not including destination and optional paint charges). The new Honda Passport TrailSport features standard torque-vectoring i-VTM4® all-wheel drive, rugged-design tires, unique styling touches, navigation system, roof rails and more, with an MSRP of $42,470.

The V-Tec crossover in the new model is a bit more muted compared to the previous gen Passport. It still sounds amazing though! Didn’t expect such a car to sound so good.
 
The PP is larger & based on the Pilot (US focused), it is the same vehicle pretty much with the 3rd row gone & shorter length.
 
The Honda Passport TrailSport now gets the off-road kit it should’ve had all along

This butch midsize SUV just got a lot more compelling

A few years ago, Honda said it would sell a rugged version of the Passport SUV, called TrailSport. “Sweet,” we thought. But then it debuted, and instead we were like, “Wait, that’s it?”

Honda is now aiming to right its past wrongs with a revised Passport TrailSport that actually has some useful off-road upgrades. Most significantly, the TrailSport now comes with 245/60 General Grabber all-terrain tires – seriously, how did the previous version not have these? – which are an absolute must for any SUV claiming to have go-anywhere ambitions. New 18-inch wheels help with the overall aesthetic, as well.

Beyond the rubber, Honda tweaked the Passport's suspension, giving the TrailSport unique spring and damper settings. The carmaker also touts "optimized" stabilizer bars which are said to improve the Passport's off-road articulation. That said, the TrailSport has the same 8.1 inches of ground clearance as before, matching the standard Passport models.

Like all Passports, the TrailSport comes with a 280hp V6 and 9-speed automatic transmission. A torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system is also standard, with different terrain modes that’ll adjust the throttle mapping and traction control intervention, should you venture quite far off the beaten path.
