Volvo Cars, the premium car maker, revealed the new Cross Country version of its V60 mid-size estate. The rugged Volvo V60 Cross Country is the latest addition to the company's line-up of brand new Volvos that underpins the company's transformation in recent years.
Like its V60 sibling that was launched earlier this year on the driveway of a Stockholm villa, the Volvo V60 Cross Country personifies the versatile Swedish family estate. To that profile, it adds the capability on and off the beaten track that has defined Volvo's Cross Country range since its introduction in 1997, taking the V60 from the suburb to the skogen (Swedish for forest).
"With the new V60 Cross Country, we take our Swedish family estate from one natural habitat to another," said Håkan Samuelsson, president and chief executive of Volvo Cars. "We invented the Cross Country segment over 20 years ago and with this car, we reinforce our long-standing pedigree in safe, capable and versatile family cars."
Ground clearance for the Volvo V60 Cross Country is up to 75mm higher than the regular V60, thanks to the specially developed Cross Country chassis and suspension that enhance the car's off-road capability. All-wheel-drive is standard on the new V60 Cross Country, as are Hill Descent Control, Electronic Stability Control, Corner Traction Control and a special Off-Road driving mode.

Volvo V60 gets dynamic R-Design version
Wagon lovers can now rejoice even more as the Volvo V60 has now been provided with an R-Design model to inject a bit of sportiness into its appearance while adding some extra kit as standard. More importantly, the V60 R-Design also gets a sportier suspension set up, with stiffer springs, more responsive dampers, thicker roll bars and a 12 mm drop in ride height.
As for the design, it doesn’t deviate too far from the standard trim, with highlights such as high-gloss black trim finishes, 18-inch alloy wheels, redesigned bumpers and LED front foglamps providing the V60 with some extra visual attitude.
Step inside the cabin and sporty touches such as a black headlining, sports pedals, a sports leather steering wheel and gear level and R-Design tread plates are among the highlights. The driver and front passenger will also benefit from sports seats with partial leather upholstery, cushion extensions and lumbar support.
Among the R-Design’s standard features are a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual climate control, a digital gauge cluster and a 10-speaker audio system. Volvo also provides an R-Design Pro option which bumps the wheel size up from 18- to 19-inches, tints the rear windows and gives the headlamps active cornering and adaptive shadow technology. Hands-free tailgate operation, ambient lighting and a heads-up display round out the Pro option.
