Hi all,

Kudos to @Steamy Tom for the thread idea.

I want to keep this thread down to the Western Cape only for all weekend plans like camping and getaways and whatever.
Maybe members can post a little review and add some scenery from wherever they went for a weekend.

Great idea this. I'm going to Landmeterskop near Stanford this weekend for a family outing. Cottages on a working farm. The kids love it there. Will post pics after the weekend.

Thanks for the thread. I have been wanting to go away for a weekend with the family but not further than 2hours from Cape Town.

Would prefer a house, not camping, and something with activities for children eg. fishing, swimming, waterpark, horse riding etc etc.

Would be a great idea if you added your location to this post.

Can always visit Birkenhead for beer tasting.

We went for a quick family getaway to Vloedbos (www.vloedbos.com) in November 2018. Its about 30 minutes drive past Caledon.

I would rate the place among the best family camping sites. Green grass, fantastic ablution facilities, 2 pools areas plus a small indoor heated pool, supertube (at a cost), mini golf, etc. The place was fully booked but more than enough space not to feel cluttered.

No music allowed at all so no kadoef kadoef. I would go there again in a heartbeat.

My wife is a Craig Lucas fan and he is performing at Caledon Casino next weekend. So I secretly booked us tickets and an overnight stay at a guesthouse in Caledon for after the show.

We are going on a Cruise end of March so we first have to overcome all the spending around that before looking at any other getaways.

Although I am tempted to book a few nights at Doringlaagte (www.doringlaagte.com) in Montague for the Easter break or the weekend after Easter.

Doringlaagte looks like a nice place, just a pity the dam is empty at the moment.
