Lower bandwidth prices from Broadband Infraco

An STMI from Johannesburg to Cape Town from Telkom without wholesale discounts (which were kept secret) was R1.5 million (US$198,531). That changed to R970,000 (US$128,383) in August 2009 and is now down to R300,000 (US$39,706).

Could this be one of the main reasons why uncapped internet is offered that is affordable??

I’d been on the Board from the beginning and I was leading the development from an Eskom perspective.

Err .. fail?

So, Eksdom were building fibre infratructure and not power plants. Well that makes perfect sense for a POWER UTILITY. Just where did these guys think they were going to get the power to "light" all this cable? Rand Water maybe? Morons.

Sounds like their pricing will be similar to Telkom. Who in their right mind will go with a Government organisation, when you can get the same from Telkom who actually know what they are doing?

So basically no lower priced Broadband from Infraco. Those were some evasive answers.

It’s been turned on its head. An STMI from Johannesburg to Cape Town from Telkom without wholesale discounts (which were kept secret) was R1.5 million (US$198,531). That changed to R970,000 (US$128,383) in August 2009 and is now down to R300,000 (US$39,706). Our pricing model is built on a cost plus basis and therefore rates will be close to these current numbers.

If its not much cheaper why are they there? If the prices dropped so much why haven't weve seen it on the ISP side.

Its a FAIL of an answer. seacom is for profit albeit for cheap, so them saying close to it kinda is weaird for a cost based plan/structure isnt it?:wtf:

Kaaskop, it's easy to see why we, the subscribers, have not seen any reduction on the ISP side - PROFITEERING, money-making, corruption, "why pass on to the consumer when we can fill our profit accounts"-style attitudes. It's the same everywhere in South Africa. We get ripped off by all retailers in the name of "profit".
