So, I've decided to take the old 20D apart completely (mainly for the hell of it).

Anyone interested in process/pics? :p
 
but why!? its just microchips and blinky lights! much better served SOLD, and then purchasing real electronics you can tinker with.. like a USB arduino dev. board. silly billy. shame on you.
 
let me know how easy it is to remove the infrared filter on the sensor :)

I would say you've got quite a fight on your hands. It'll be easier if you go in from the front rather than the back (like I did).

The infrared filter is held on with some push pins (plastic so be careful to not break them) and is glued to the glass protecting the sensor. Phew.

So, who wants a box of spares? :D
 
Not for me, thank you. My 20D is still in mint condition and I'll rather not do this.
 
ive been considering converting my 30D to infrared when i get my 7D in the next few months. definitly wont get much if i try sell the camera so i dont have too much to lose.
