Good morning guys/girls. I'm on a 40Mbps VDSL account with Vox/openserve, but I only get about 18-20mbps down speed after the free line upgrades. Do you think I should downgrade my account to 20Mbps or should I stay on the 40Mbps account, because I'm not getting anywhere near 40Mbps. T.I.A.

Hi Craig, Sitting with the same issue...looking for answers. My line speed is half the line speed I'm paying for. It's losing/dropping connection more frequently as well.

Honestly I would drop it but am also afraid that the line won't work at the bought line speed.

Openserve have upgraded your line to 40, but Vox are throttling it to 20.
That's where I am at the moment: 25.5 Mbit line speed reported on the router, but a speed test maxes out at 20.
I have Vox pure uncapped 20 Mbps.
If you have the same, then that's your issue.
However, if you have one of the older legacy Vox CAPPED accounts, it SHOULD run at line speed, not account speed (as capped accounts are not speed restricted. Only uncapped accounts are.)

Grouter that's a problem. How can one get Vox not to throttle the line speed?

Wait until they double the speeds in line with the openserve upgrades.
This from the email I got from them:

Vox will automatically upgrade these line speeds in keeping with Openserve's service changes at no additional cost.

So if they stop the throttling we should get speeds of approx. 35mbps?

Correct.
I have emailed Vox to request that I stay on 20 meg uncapped @ R575 pm.
I don't see the point of paying for 40 and only getting my line speed of 25.
I'm currently paying R708 for 20 Mbit uncapped pure dsl.

Do you mind me asking what you are paying?
'cos their website until yesterday was listing 20 Mbit uncapped at R675, and I've been paying R708 for months...

Well, this is my first month with Vox and actually bring connected. I'm paying R675 for a 40Mbps connection. I dont know if I should downgrade back to 20mbps or stay on 40mbps and hope for the best.

Thanks for that. I'm miffed as to why I've been paying R708....

Just in case anyone reading this didn't know or had any doubts, I have to state something:

Vox support kinda sucks.

I know: I've been a client for years. I honestly wonder why sometimes...

Grouter? Do you think I must test my line with the openserve test account and see if that makes a difference?

are you at your router? Did you enter the username and password as guest@telkomadsl / guest?
(having removed the vox username and password combo that is...)
