Hey all!

i got my 24-7Online 128kbps connection installed yesterday, so far so good. i just had a bit of a problem with line of site, i live in plattekloof 2 and the tower for plattekloof doesnt cover plattekloof 2 and 3 and 4, only plattekloof 1, but they ended up pointing a grid toward Century City. i get full download speeds and im pretty happy with everything so far.
Thank you for your business and 24-7online will endeavour to continue to do the best we can to provide its clients with a fast cost affective alternative to the competition.

Lets give clint the benefit of the doubt here and i would suppose that there be some happy people on wireless.

Wireless does have a place, however only if ADSL is not available. DSL is better and anybody that has ever had wireless will tell you this. ("wireless" means making use of technologies OTHER than WBS, sentech, HSDPA or GSM based technologies.)

Lets do the math. DSL192 + 3GB of SAIX on Cybersmart will be R370. okay for this you get reasonably stable pings and a reliable connection.

I have had DSL for months and have never had to make a single call, with the service being down or slow. With wireless on the other hand, calls were a daily occurance.

Even if DSL costs R100 more a month, in the long run, its not worth the stress and doubt.

These wireless operators seem to be greedy and instead of servicing 50 clients properly, they attempt to service 100 clients 50% of the time. they often don't have proper call centers or expertise. I'm not saying telkom is much better.

But I cannot push the point enough. If you are considering getting wireless, ask for a 14 trial. do this before you pay a cent because ultimately you'll be sorry and then you could have spent your money better.

Some of these folks are out there to take your money and please just watch out, rather share a DSL line with your neighbour using CAT5. then you split the bill and bandwidth.

Internet should make life easier not, more problematic. There are no bodies to regulate these people. Get them to sign a money back guarantee, if they are that confident of there service, they should put it on paper. I'll help you sue them!

I Just would like to know how fast your towers are going up in the Jo burg area. Like Likes of Sandton, Bryanston,Lonehill,Paulshoof,Rivonia and those areas? When are you expected to get there with your Towers?

More info on 24-7 please

I have been contemplating for some time whether or not to take the plunge and sign up with these guys but am a bit sceptical as to what kind of speeds can be obtained with P2P connections.
I would really appreciate your feedback as R2500 is a lot to spend on a service that might not be worthwhile.
I will be quite happy if I can download around 20-30 Gigs a month so if any of you guys have used this connection to its max please let me know what kind of data you get

Well its been treating me well so far. I just wish someone could let me know what P2P client to use...20-30GB shouldnt be a problem.

20-30GB shouldnt be a problem.

u must be living in a dream world if u think that u will be allowed to download 20 - 30 GB on a 64K connection....

20 to 30 GIG

64k running all day and all night for a month should give you 18 GIG. With bursting maybe a bit more. As to P2P well thats dependant on what you downloading and who you peering from as the P2P clients have the ability to shape their own upload and download traffic and there can be no guarantee on P2P traffic.

That's not why I am laughing. You really wanna tell me that you are going to allow your clients to download 20GB per month???
i think their bandwidth is oversold ... so i am sure if a few download 20Gb per month it would would not cause a major problem but if all clients download 20Gb per month then certainly imho 24-7 and any other service providers aka sentech would caution their users ... and maybe institute a cap ...

correct me if i'm left so that i can be right ;)

So clint, are u going to allow me to download 18gb a month using one of ur 64K packages??

If yes, where do i sign up?

karlosfontana says: 247 working well 2 kilometers away from their nearest tower (in eye sight) in town. With that small outdoor flat panel device with a RJ45 output. So i could keep my PC on the othr side of my house.
The POE is working well, I am sending 18VDC over 40metres of RJ45 cable for the flatpanel thing.
It always work at 64k . Haven;t had a problem with "contention ratio" yet, but I believe there's about 8 users on that tower currently and there's a couple more towers in town. I picked up 4 towers! 24-7online.co.za on my wireless NEtgear USB device (but I won;t be able to connect with it.:D ). my usb device is just a tiny little thing. That's why I bought da flatpanel.

all i can say is their signal is interfering with our wireless adsl router as it knocks the signal out completely

24-7online.co.za

well i am still here and still operating via wireless. 24-7online.co.za my wisp of choice. clint and his team provide good support. had a few interruptions in service but was timeously restored. i would recommend 24-7online.co.za ;). Communication needs to be increased tho'.
