is there anyway that i can keep my adsl connected all the time and not have to connect everytime i want to use internet. Can someone please tell me how in simple terms....

sorry i think someone has asked this before

Are you using an adsl router? If so, under the router settings under your ATM settings where you put your account details set the "Connect Type" to always connected.

yes i am using the telkom marconi router. where are the atm settings?

Not Sure. Try just clicking on all the links on the side bar until u get to the one with the details for your atm. Will be by the VPI/VCI settings, Usename and pass etc.

Go to your Routers admin page, 10.0.0.2 or whatever it is. Login, then click on WAN, then PVC 0 or whatever Adapter you're using. Then set your Encapsulation to "PPPoE LLC" Enter all your details, ISP Uname/Pswrd. Save Settings/Reboot.

Hope it helps

what admin page, i dont have any of that. all i have is the telkom adsl app that lets me connect

Does your modem plug into the USB port or the Network? If USB then you do not have the router option. If Network then chances are you have the router option (60/40%). ead your manual. If it say router, the through away the software you got from Telkom and read how to setup your router in the manual. You normally connect to the default IP and userID/Pwd the router come with. (Change the PWD at least).

Sounds like u got the crappy telkom pppoe drivers/app installed. If you are running winxp, i would just uninstall the telkom s/ware & setup a pppoe connection that can automatically connect. If u are running win2k or win98 ther e's pppoe drivers u can download & setup a connection without the telkom drivers
