These guys really are amateurs at retail special offers.
I just got the email resent to me, this time with some new after the fact terms and conditions appended.

They are really just making themselves look like prize idiots everytime they do this. They had a similar fiasco with the door prizes at the Clearwater store opening.

My rule of special offers - make sure the top and tail match. Nothing drives a customer away easier than having the old bait and switch pulled on them. They hate you forever and tell all their friends about it.

They had a similar offer last year, but just for any olde Mac. This one seems to be aimed at taking the sting out of mispurchases or misadvice.

IIRC there was a limited time on the special. The offer only ran for something like two weeks or so... the Terms and Conditions links says 8 Dec 2006.
