2G not 2g anymore???

I see on my MTN Direct page ( I am on a 2G package), it shows the following :

GPRS 2G 831,283,992.77 B

831 MB?????????? did MTN halve their data package size, yet still call it a 2G package???? might explain some of the other posts in this forum
