I am still stuck with "the bringer of death", and need to upgrade to either the 2H Gladiator's War Staff OR the Gladiator's Spell Blade + Gladiator's Endgame combo.

I need something which is good for PVP *and* PVE, to my mind thats the staff because it has +hit and +crit - whereas the 1H/OH combo only carries resilience(however it does carry more +dmg/heal, although i understand that +hit is the most important stat for pve??).

I've been using a staff all of my wow warlock life ;) and am a bit bored, plus if i use a staff again i dont get to use a spellstone which can remove nasty magical effects and stuff.

My questions is this: which would be the better weapon for PVE > PVP, and also do i even have a need for the spellstone in raiding at all?

General rule of thumb for casters is, 2H for pvp due to better stats (more stam, int, etc), 1h+oh for pve (more +spelldamage/+hit/etc)

Most spell casters need +hit to maximize damage in PVE but you can always make it up from your other items or gem sockets if you're short that stat on your weapon.

My advice would be if you want to use the gladiator weapon for both pve and pvp then go for the 1 hander/offhand combo. The reason being is that it will be much easier to upgrade at a later stage then the 2 hander.

ok so the +crit and +hit is not such a big deal then?

You'll get plenty of +Crit and +Hit on other gear.
Spellstrike set alone will almost hit cap most casters and will hit cap a Shadow Priest.

for an Aff lock +crit isn't that important. It's more NB for Destro locks. I'm using a 1H+OH for pvp & pve. For pvp i use my spellblade and the for pve i use my newly acquired bloodmaw magus-blade. In my OH I use jewel of infinite possibilities for the +hit but will probably swap it out for the orb of the soul eater when I get enough +hit through other gear.

202.

The "suppression" talent (i think that's what it's called - can't remember) in the aff tree only affects aff spells (dots, curses, dcoil etc) not destro (sbolts, sburn, immo etc)

So you don't want to rely on the talent bonus for too long. (Sbolts make up about 40% of an Aff locks dmg output) And make the +hit with gear and gems (gems being the best option for pre/early kara)

Yeah i was thinking more of a Shadow Priest who gets a whopping 10% form Talents.

Actually if you're looking at going past Curator in Kara u need to Hitcap.
