Yah so finally i got something i want to download this month, heck i still got 1 GB left but my saix acc is downloading at 2kB/s with a http download wtf ?   and its server specific, if randomly download a mp3 etc off a random server it gets full speed for my line, but certain servers are capped? at 2kB/s ? is the a problem with sat-3 ? saix or something or is this a new saix policy ? also noticing my ping times are a bit higher than norm.

busy getting a friend try from a different location on saix.
pinging my mud i play..

I'm getting 513ms to my MUD, it's been this way since Friday morning.

Edit: Beginning of a new month, so I dont think it's related to network usage.

me too, something is broken, tried traceroute but my router gives up on waiting :/

i'm wondering if this is Telkom/saix's april fool change :( ie make adsl shapped ONLY for browsing internet.

Yup, SAIX international latency is shocking since a week ago.

Telkom is due to reduce costs, It is known that they will by any means retain their same profit level. Thus I would not be surprised if this is deliberate to allow a still higher contention ratio or want to force PPl to "higher" level packages and keep this 3G for browsing only. That Telscum internet manager that used to frequent here would know as he is part of all this cheating but he is ducking and hiding. Bust be ashamed of himself!

I hope not cause if thats the case, then i'm cancelling my adsl. no point then when unshapped is expensive, http downloading is slow. infact i'd then only keep it if together with isp charge it was R100-150 ie no rental

btw downloads http i'm getting only 5-8kB/s but speed test indicate full line speed, so i need to log a fault with uhm isp i guess cause line is fine and maybe they can in turn log it with saix.

Ok so i've been trying to figure out whats happening cause its sucky. Emailed cybersmart and they say the problem was fixed last night.. anyways i did a international test and get ..

Communications 247.5 kilobits per second
Storage 30.2 kilobytes per second
1MB file download 33.9 seconds
Subjective rating Mediocre <- LOL

Anyways so my link is definately working fine. Anyone on a other saix IsP having slow links to places lke megaupload or rapidshare cause ALL of these servers go at about 5 - 8 kB/s . Heh there are other similar hosting services but i'm not mentioning them incase they too get this weird capping speed.

Edit tried on a seperate line, different acc with same results, hence me trying to see where its coming from. nxt logical step up would be dif isp on saix or is.

Some servers are just under massive load - not everyone is Google!! This kind of individual server speed is site specific. And - for instance - usa traffic gets preference - purely on send, response times through that long, long, slow cable (itself under heavy load) - depending on time of day etc.

Imagine when this forum one day will cheer of joy because everyone is getting high speeds and good services. No more nagging again

telscum what thou do on us thy will recieve in regret greatfuly...

your days are numbered...

btw mine works now again, did nothing on my side besides wait and try again last night. so now its going at full speed with the odd periodic dieing that saix seems have when downloading files for long periods dunno(would have thought satellite like like this mut sat-3?) why but hey it works :D .
