Hi All

What would one expect to pay for a dedicated 2mb line, iow, no contention. Would primarily be used for international 'stuff' <please excuse technical terms> :o

Also, who would be the prime providers of such a line?

Please don't say Telskom!

cheers

2mb/s international diginet - got to think tens of thousands but thats a guess. Would be interested in the actual figure too.

Sorry, the answer is: Telkom

They will provide you with the Diginet Line. I can recall that a 64K line at one stage was around R 1500.00 per month. Contention Ratios however needs to be negotiated with your ISP and that can become costly.

Hellkom has about 36 such providers listed:

Hi air,

I can get you a quote (from both the Telkom line side of things and the ISP bandwidth side of things), but I will need a few more details from you. Diginet would definitely be the way to go if you are looking for guaranteed bandwidth (no or very low, fixed contention ratios). May I PM you to get the details I need?

wow, that seems like an amazingly good price for 2mb of int. access over diginet. ODS what is the contention ratio on that and is all 2meg int access?

Sounds so much better than the deal I'm getting at the moment...

It would have no contention ratio. It would be a dedicated GIB circuit. This could either terminate in Telecity or Telehouse in the UK
