Usually they lure you with crazy prices for new computers posted in the used section or on an auction. Often for the latest MacBook Pros.
Here's one from Gumtree today:

Apple MacBook Pro
Core i7 2.66GHz,
4GB RAM, 500GB
15-inch
Run Time up to 9hrs
Condition: Brand new sealed in the box

When you call the number (listed as Cape town) to arrange a viewing, a Nigerian tells you he's actually in East London or at a cryptic address in Somerset West. They tell you they can't take cash (too prevent robberies ha, ha!) and you should pay first by EFT and bring them the receipt or fax it to them. Of course then it's too late. No computer exists and you only have a cellphone number and multiple names to show for it.

If a price seems too cheap, there is something amiss.

I suspect a combination of identity fraud, hacked accounts and instantaneous withdrawal of the transferred money means the money is gone, dont believe banks refund you like credit card companies.

That is why you ensure that you buy from someone with a good reputation (eg. Carbonite.co.za allow you to comment on the guy's reputation) OR you personally go to pick up the item and only then do the payment once you have the item in your hand.
