2nd Hand Subaru

To add my 2cents, i have a 2008 impreza WRX(not sti) and it is bullet proof, nothing has gone wrong thus far and it goes like a bat out of hell.

But a 2002 model is a bit old though. You can get a nice clean one from 2008-2010 for R200k.

Subaru is a rock solid car and very trustworthy.

To add as well subaru south africa offers exceptional service, they know you by name when you go there and they offer great service.

So rather look for a newer model and take it from there. But be sure they have done the cambelt service as it is about R13k for the service.

But due to fuel prices i will be selling my subaru.

Also remember, it's over 10years old ... look at all the plastic and rubber parts on the car. (Water system, suspension, etc.)
They need replacement around this age.

I have owned my car for over 12 years. The coolant pipes are the only thing that needed to be replaced. And they are quite cheap.

I have not replaced any plastics.

Suspension rubbers are hard wearing. because sports car. It not a polo

Try get hold of fazda over PM or something....

Sorry I missed this !

My stock answer when someone is buying a second hand STi or WRX is "Do you know the previous owner?"

In this case, however, looking at the photos, this does not look like an STi that has been abused at all - in fact it is bloody beautiful on first impression. Add to that, that it is a Bug Eye, and it will always be worth over book, and should hold its value for many years to come, as this is a car that was produced at the height of the Subaru Rally programme.

Have it looked over by someone from Subaru and take it!! :D

Whaaat? Even the 06/07 WRX? Was looking at one...

The STI is more prone to it. But the WRX suffers as well.

Fitting forged pistons to a Subaru is an engine out job. = expensive.

The heat in SA, causes alot of problems for turbo engines. Then you add 95ulp to the mix and it gets worse.

If you run NF octane booster, you can mitigate the issue to a certain extent.

So you don't recommend anything with the EJ25 motor then?

Interesting...thanks.
