Hi,

Ok so the power went off for about an hour.. my 2 pc's are on surge protectors. When it went off I went and unplugged everything from the wall to wait for the power to come back on.

Power came back on and I plugged the pc's back in and nothing.. dead.. 1 pc on the same plug is 100% the other 2 are stone dead.

I swopped around power supplies, they're all 100%
I swopped motherboard cables, they're all 100%
I unplugged everything from the motherboard except the CPU
There is only 1 cable now from the motherboard to the PSU and still nothing comes on
The motherboard has nice LEDS that light up when power is detected (even when not running)
This motherboard's LEDS won't even light up..

Any other ideas? My 2 PCs are 2 months old :( can a power failure kill a motherboard and bypass everything else? And this is when the power went off, not came back on..

not that I can see, the motherboard is an Asus TUF wifi.. guess it's not very Tough

Have you tried a different plug in your house?

yeah so on the same wall plug outlet I have 3x pc's running off it.
2 PC's are running perfectly (I'm using one of them right now chatting to you guys)

Just one is stone dead.

Only cable is the 24pin cable plugged in, didn't even plug the CPU cable in as the LED's would light up with everything off. I tried the exact same on the other PC and the LED's lit up, but this one is dead. I even just removed the CMOS battery and still nothing :(

yeah I swopped the PSU's around and they work 100%

I've never heard of a motherboard dying from a power failure... and in-rush of current sure, but just turning it off as in a power failure at the wall, very weird.. and 2 pc's died, and they're on different plugs and breakers at the DB board

Reseat the RAM. If a PC has 2 RAM modules then remove 1 of them and try switch on.

just tried putting the ram on a different slot... nothing

when the power came back on all the PC's were unplugged. I then went to the wall and plugged them in and then switched them on (well tried to switch them on)

So much for an Ellies surge protector... and I have 2x in a row! One surge protector at the wall, then an extension cord with another surge protector on that extension cord with the PC plugged into that.

I'm having the same problem with a Tomahawk B450 motherboard....

Ricardo, do you have a UPS? Even a cheap 600va is fine. Perhaps your power is missing a phase or isint current since coming back on. Perhaps your computers are actually fine. Put a UPS in before PC.

Weird, they usually die when power comes back on.
Well I have the same issue with my PC. If I do not physically unplug the bugger before loadshedding it simple won't start up after the power is restored. I have to leave it for a good few hours with the power cord unplugged when it finally decides to boot again.

Even if you unplug the cord and then press the power button to drain any electricity trapped in the capacitors ? ... Cause leaving it standing is just a slower way of doing the same thing ??

Hmmm, I shall try that next time I run into the problem.
