I really need to get this update! I wonder if you can download it without doing it on the device itself ie offline installer. Also I wonder if they have addressed the issue of not being able to track how much data has been used? Can any one confirm this?

Go to settings, about device, software update, update. Its around 90 mb. Takes ages to install once downloaded, so don't panic if the process hangs on 50% for ages. I goes on eventually...

I dont think you can. Agree with you on the data usage issue, but I read somewhere that the solution is only coming with ICS though.

Mine is ver 3.1, and main reason for wanting to upgrade is "Wifi Direct" isn't on my tab. Does this feature exist on ver 3.2?

I use 3G watchdog to monitor data usage on my S2. And its pretty accurate - I tested it with a prepaid sim and once-off data bundle. For some reason however it doesn't work on (my) Tab 10.1 - maybe it will if you upgrade to v3.2
