hi What are the 3 beeps made to a cellphone number before it rings?
its a Vodacom number?
The dial tone doesn't sound the same as every other dial tone?
or calling tone?

It means the number has been ported, like a 082 number now being on the MTN network, or an 083 number on Telkom network.

And the one reason is happens is because say you have free Telkom minutes, now you call a supposedly Telkom number, and it gives those beeps, then you know it will chow your airtime because the number is not on Telkom network and thus the free minutes won't apply.

Yeah I think that is basically the only reason they have it there especially with the Big red and yellow that love selling cheap on net minutes.

yeah it's to make you aware though the number looks on net, it is not
