Except that they have no idea yet. Which field/project would kick start three senior Java developers? any programs in need in South Africa, maybe government sector ....

Well not to sound mean, I would recommend that you finish you words in your titles, as that can make or break a letter.

Other than that, I have all the utmost respect for someone that has the guts to be self employed. good luck with that!

Maybe both of you can learn some proper grammar first. ;)

What else do you know apart from Java ?

Can you convert Visual Basic6 to Java or C# ?

?

To justify 3 senior Java devs for any length of time it would have to be quite a major project.

For those types of projects you'd probably need to find a client first, and lots of people spend good time to do just that.

How do you guys get freelance work? I can't even get freelance work for web development, never mind other things. Nibbles, that's all I ever get. Yes, design the page for me, then you never hear from them again.

you need to find a client... if you are jsut starting out and you are looking for you first project to require a3 full time senor devs's that might be a bit milestone...

Most of the work will come by word of mouth... so the best way to do it is to find 3 or four projects and have each developer work on one as part of a pseudo-company..

Then jointly code the generic lib's(logging, user auth, accounts integration, blah blah.)
and share infrustructure(soruce control, backups, email)

Use these building blocks to build the apps, one you have a good couple of building blocks you can knock up apps pretty quick..

What happens is you will find a project that will require more and more developer and staff.. one of the projects will be successful and take more and more time .

You can start by using rent-a-coder but to be profitable on this you need the building blocks already.

Personally i've done C/C++ as well, others are strictly JAVA, maybe corrected ... With such exposure, i don't see conversion from VB being a problem really especially on .NET environment
