Could someone help me solve the following please:

1) I re-installed XP SP2 a couple months ago, once I had i needed to download a bunch of updates (83 or so i think), i did but my connection seemed to stuff out half way thru, but it somehow said DL was complete & wanted to instal, but all i got was "Some updates could not be installed" which was all of them. It then pops up wanting to do the process again but the DL takes 2 secs cos it thinks it already has the files and then the instal fails again. I re-installed again but it still thinks it has already DL the files.
The re-instal wasnt a full re-instal just an update instal or woteva its called

2) My microphone, in the middle of a skype call it stopped working, my external mic on the laptop doesnt pick up sound & neither does my headset mic, I tried updating the drivers for it but it couldnt find newer drivers, any idea how to fix this?

3) Facebook, this might have been discussed on here but a search of FB will yield hundreds of results. A whole bunch of buttons dont work when clicked, like sending a message, i can type in the body but when i click send nothing happens. This is on Firefox, IE6 & Opera on mine & my g/fs FB account. My account works fine at work on IE7

1. You need to find the directory where these files are kept and nuke it. I cannot tell you where it is as I am not on an intl connection atm to find a doc on it.
2. Make sure your recording device in your sound settings is set to whichever mike you want to use...
3. Sounds like a JAVA issue.

1. Clear temp files. Remove all cookies etc.
2. Had the same problem and it is drivers. The default drivers Vista installed for my sound card made the sound work but not the mic and headphones. So yes try new drivers.
3. www.java.com -> download the latest version.

Thanks for the replies

1) Cleared the files in local settings\temp but dont think the update files are saved there, I'll try google for their exact file path
2) Will try search for drivers manually, but whats weird is that it was working fine, it just stopped in the middle of a skype call
3) Downloaded & installed latest Java, still doesn't work

Start Internet Explorer.
On the Tools menu, click Internet Options, and then click the General tab.
Under Temporary Internet files, click Delete Cookies.
Click OK when you are prompted to confirm the deletion.
Click Delete Files.
Click OK when you are prompted to confirm the deletion.
Under History, click Clear History.
Click Yes when you are prompted to delete your history of visited Web sites.
Click OK.
Close Internet Explorer
Start Internet Explorer and try the Windows Update Site again.

It is weird. I still think you need to go to sound settings, select the proper sound device and the recording channel (the right mike input) forcefuly.

I think you have another proggy or something that selected something (maybe line in) instead of the mike. Maybe even Skype is using line-in instead of the mike...
