Do the 3G-Launch specials http://www.mtn.co.za/?pid=238025 only apply to new subscribers i.e. upgrades or new contracts?

(I'm referring to the 300Mb data and 75 minutes video calling on a Business Time package.)

If I had a USIM with my current ProCall 120, do I also qualify for the free 300Mb (or whatever it is for Procall 120) of data? I only qualify for an upgrade in Nov / Dec 05 and so my hands are tied. :(

Yes, I'm interested in this too...if I put a USIM in my trusty old P800 will I suddenly have gobs of data to play with for the next couple of months?

My contract is the "MyCall 100". I upgraded last year but bought a USIM this week and my account was loaded with 30MB data and 30min Video calls.

I also loaded the 100MB bundle on my account (2 months ago) and It seems that the free 30MB with the USIM is being reduced first. Therefore I have to use all my data before the 20th.

So am I right in saying that in order to activate the free data special on my contract I need to get a USIM? It is not activated by default? Do I need to have a data bundle loaded?
MTNH, MTNBB any help?

Sorry, forgot you're other question. The special works with the USIM. You do not get the special unless you activate a new USIM.

We are encouraging people to upgrade to the USIM when they get a 3G handset and therefore activate the special for users who upgrade. The data special is effectively a bundle of its own which is depleted before normal bundles so is a good chance to try out the data and decide whether you want to take out a bundle or not

MTNBroadband, the question still remain, if you have a Pro-call 120 and buy a USIM, will the 300 MB for the next three months be free?
I only have GPRS though, but data is data...

The data will be free for 3 months.

You should realise that if you do have a bundle you will loose out, one way or the other!

Is my assumption that the ProCall 120 will have 300Mb of free data valid? That was purely a thumb suck based on what the Business Time free data gets free.
Where can one find out what the free data packages are for the Procall 220 and 300?
What amount of free data is available if I purchase a USIM for my MyChoice 75 contract?
The MTN site only shows the free data available for the MyCall 100 and Business Time contracts on the 3G specials page. (as far as I can see)

I've been wondering the same about the bundles as I'm also on ProCall 120. So just to be clear I can walk into my local MTN SP shop, get a usim and I'll have 300 Megs to play with over the next 3 months?

Also if you upgrade to a usim I take it you can keep your current number?

Oh yeah one last thing ;) Is there a way to check how much data you've used apart from using the log (or 3rd party logging software) on your phone?

Is that 300 megs per month for 3 months, or 300 megs for 3 months? I'm also confused, one post (for procall 120 says 75 mins, 300MB). Does this mean 45 of the inclusive minutes have been shifted to data?

Also what is the price of the usim upgrade?

That is 300MB in total ie. 300MB for 3 months.

And the added 75min is 75 video call minutes which you also get for free! but who are you gonna call? Maybe you can use it! Mine is gonna expire unused.

The price is R140.

Ta

Won't use video and use more than 300MB per month..... No dice here I'm afraid....

Thanks :)

I also have no use for the video call minutes but the 300 free megs will definitely not go to waste. Having access to web and e-mail anywhere is such a pleasure!

Edit: After viewing callquest I have found the itemised data section and have noticed under Portals you get "internet" and "mymtn". I'm guessing these coincide with the "MTN GPRS" and "MTN ISP GPRS" connection settings on my phone... so my question is what is the difference between the two portals?

From what I understood earlier this year in a post somewhere on here is that they are basically one and the same thing, but that the "mymtn" fits in better with the MTN marketing plan.

It is true that these two APNs are essentially the same when surfing the internet. They differ when accessing services such as WAP or MMS. By using Mymtn we have more control of the user experience. Some examples are that when sending an MMS the gprs traffic is not billed as well and when travelling overseas one can still use MTNLoaded without having to use user name and password each time. We have kept 'internet' as an option because people find it easier to set up on their computers.
