Not even Google can help so let me try this platform.
When I click on a URL in Facebook or another app. Why does my Android give me 3 options for opening the article? Two chrome icons and the news app icon installed.
I post a pic. It's never happened before until I installed then uninstalled Chrome beta.
Scenario for the image. I have a News app called News24 installed. I have one instance of chrome installed. I clicked on a news article link in Facebook. Now it pops up with 3 options.
Any ideas?

Thanks I foundation out why. Not exactly as described in the link though but it helped.
I went to default apps and saw a link called app links. Here I clicked on each news app like News24, IOL etc. I set them to always open in chrome. Now I don't get the 3 options any more, Screenshot_20220412_102412_com.android.settings.jpg

I wish android would explicitly ask you if you would like to set the app you select as the default app. They could also probably have a checkbox that reads ' don't ask me this again' or something similar

My phone gives me the option of opening it with a specific app only once or always.
