Hi guys, me and a few other mates, possibly 4 of us have been playing wow for about 3 years +.

We would like to join a mature SA guild.

Does anyone have a mature guild which we can try out. We all work and have families and I guess we just looking to play with our same age group or possibly near to it at at least.

please give me a shout, we all from cape town

Will raid for Biltong. Twilight's hammer.
New SA guild. We are recruiting for 10man progression... otherwise we are all for *** praat :P Alliance side.
If you want you can /w me in game. Toon Swietieman.

What sort of experience are you and your friends looking for in WoW?

I come from a raiding guild but then moved to join my friends but because I am use to raiding... I am very bored at the moment.

for myself I would like to try hard modes at least.. for my 2 mates they just want to raid regularly.

but above all the raiding and playing... I think we just want some local company and local mates so yes we want to raid regularly but with some local mates as well.

I am not going to link my characters up in here just for others to /troll on.. but if you have a website ill gladly apply but as I mentioned my mates and I would like to join a guild together.

Well I know that there are several large South African guilds that I am sure would like to have you and your friends as members... I have played in a few of these guilds over the years and I think Twilight's Hammer probably has the most South African players, although I think all of the guilds on that realm only raid 10-man now... Perhaps take a look at this thread, it lists most of the South African guilds, although there are still many more who don't read these forums.

Mmm Twilight's hammer, still got an old alt on there that I never play :p Epiphany on Alliance side there wanted to recruit me a little while back, but I've not been to motivated in wow lately :p boring :0

Been thinking of starting up a 10 man hc guild for Cata considering the way loot will work then. Thou I always liked my 25 man runs more...

By balls your chin.

It's a pity that we don't have a "hardcore" South African raiding guild (that I know of at least). The player base has become so splintered over the last two expansions and it's quite sad that people continue to move apart.

lol semaphore you are such a manwhore!!

Ye well boored, the thing is SA people are as a general rule not all serious/hardcore about wow. They might stay serious for a little while but then fades. Most saffers are relatively casual about wow & raiding.
And lets be honest, 4 hours a night, 5 days a week hardcore raiding takes its toll from you. Specially if you raid in a EU guild and daylight saving kicks in.

But I'm sure SA guys can setup a quite serious 10 man raiding guild (again considering how loot & crap will work in Cata, 10 mans should be pretty nice). Serious/hardcore for me is going for server 1st's and as best you can in EU. But you still need to keep the fun in it, and thats tends to happen easier in 10 mans imo anyway.
I've always been focused on 25 and really like it, but my opinion is changing on this 10 man idea.

I've spoken to a few old hc raid buddies and we have been thinking about this 10 man thing.
Regarding what you said, I'm now wondering how many actual serious and really good SA guys there are still around. Might it be an option to try and setup a REAL SERIOUS SA 10 man guild? Thou then you'd have to get people from diff servers together... any thoughts?

Well SnowWar, there are plenty of good South African players, the problem is that they are so divided. At the moment I'm playing in a semi-hardcore 10-man guild on Twilight's Hammer with predominantly South African players and a few friends from European countries. We raid 2/3 nights a week for 3 hours and we've cleared ICC 10 heroic, with the exception of the Lich King, for which I blame the European Summer as it always brings with it attendance problems, but such is life.

I think it's definitely possible to form a good hardcore raiding guild with quality players, but that is only the beginning. I think you'll find a lot more people interested in the idea though with the way loot and raiding is said to function in Cataclysm.

Well from my personal point of view, there has been so much drama and bad history amongst South African guilds from the old US days, that the top player groups all split up and formed their own tiny empires. Thank goodness I was never part of that era, as I was playing for EU guilds back in the vanilla days.

If you are looking for 25 man action, your choices are very limited, as there are more 10 man South African guilds... Another thing to keep in mind, many guilds will be falling apart / taking a break at this point in time. Its very close to the expansion.

If you are considering playing for a South African guild, there are various pro's and con's you have to weigh up ... especially if you come from a EU raiding background.

I currently play for Death by tray, and our raiding is currently going strong (9/12 Heroic 25 man), but it hasnt been easy. LK 25 man was a tremendous test on the guild in terms of keeping tempers down... Playing with fellow players that have DC's, bad latency, etc, all have very bad consequences when defile starts stepping in.

Yeah, I think as far as raiding in South Africa is concerned, 10-man is a lot more viable with our connections, though the disconnects and latency issues still arise from time to time. That said though, it is possible to get a very decent connection if you are willing to spend a little extra money every month.

Ah good to hear Death by Tray is still going strong, was there for a while but never raided at the time, mostly just came back as very very casual player.

It takes a special type of insanity to want to run a mostly South African hard mode raiding guild. The level of failure is just so much higher because you have to take into account connections. Sure you get some absolutely superb sa players out there that have spent time/money making sure that they're raiding at a consistent 200-250ms and they handle the latency impact on dps/healing rotations fine and they get out the fire perfectly (for the record I'm not really one of them). But for all those superb players out there - there are a ton of crap to average players or guys who just have completely unreliable connections. Once you get a few too many of those in the team and you're wiping a few extra times on content that you really shouldn't be wiping on - your core guys start to get annoyed and you start to bleed them and when that happens its just not fun anymore.

I am impressed however to hear Death By Tray is still going - it says a lot about their leadership/organization.

@ boored: sounds pretty decent. & ye R50 extra a month and u can play with 230ms stable latency np

Ok so let it put it this way, I came from a 5 days a week, 4 hours a day hardcore 25 man guild who competed for some server 1st's. I doubt I would want to spend that much time again, 3 days a week hc 10 man raiding will do it for me.

So with that in mind, what is my options? Any guild around who is going to look @ that sort of thing come Cata? Any player thinking about making a guild like that, or interested? I'm on Sylvanas, have no problem transfering...

Well have a look at Natural Perfection, it sounds like what you are looking for.

@soltyrei Sorry for hijacking your thread.
