Sup,
1. I took out a 12 month contract with MWEB, is my ADSL router ISP locked? (Billion 5102S)
2. My friend is trying to access his ADSL account from my PC, is there a way? He came with a proxy address and port number and his login details.
Is this possible?
3. ISP budget of not more that R200. Openweb 3GB or Telkom 2GB?
Thanks for answering
1. YES YES YES - DO NOT DO THIS I REPEAT DO NOT. It's locked to mweb and mweb isnt even the cheapest. Try cybersmart theirs is cheaper, alot cheaper and it isnt network locked. Although they do have a clause stating you will use them as your only ISP.
Below is the all in one cybersmart pricing, this includes isp cost and line rental for dsl line. NOTE: anologue line is needed on top of this so add R113 odd.
384/128kbs circuit plus 1 GIG CAP R169
384/128kbs circuit plus 3 GIG CAP R259
512/256kbs circuit plus 3 GIG CAP R429
4096/384kbs circuit plus 3 GIG CAP R524
2. Easy, Create a new connection or setup account on your router.
Setting router: open broswer e.g. explorer or firefox , if its a telkom router type in 10.0.0.2 and login admin, password administrator then change acc details and connect, or 192.168.1.1 on most other router. This is annoying if you want to run multiple accounts alot means you need to keep changing info.
Setting up connection so you can run multiple accounts, open explorer, tools internet options, connections, new connection , connect broadband, enter acc details. Then go to your router setup page , one of the ips above and find a setting that allows you to enable bridge mode. Run account as needed.
Also check forum for something called routesentry if you wish to split local/international accs.
3. Sadly teleskum is the best choice, their 2/3 gb accs offer double usage, so you can get 4 or 6gb out of them. Its standard practice on their part.
Hope this helped if you still need help drop a msg in this thread.
