Can anybody confirm that this is relevant to South Africa?

If I buy a Xbox will it be covered?

Thanks,

Q: How does this warranty differ from your existing warranty?

A: Currently, any Xbox 360 is covered by a one year manufacturer’s warranty (two years in some parts of the world). If the console is out of warranty, there is a charge to have it repaired. It then comes with an additional one year repair warranty. With these changes, there is effectively a three year warranty with no charge for repair for general hardware failures indicated by the three flashing red lights error code which displays on the console.

*********************************
The way I understand it is that if your console fails with the 3 red flashing lights your console will be fixed (within 3 years). If however your DVD player (for example) breaks and not the 3 flashing red lights error it will only fall within the 1 year warranty and you would need to pay for the repair.

Only certain component failures fall under the 3 year warranty.

Yes it covers us as benitok pointed out....

A bonus about being in South Africa is that they don't repair here they just replace so as long as you have the 3 red light error you are covered.

Basically if it RoD's.

Although I imagine with the class actions suits being lodged, and the action in the Netherlands, we'll probably see a change to a full 3 year warranty in the not to distant future.

It is also unusual to have a repaired product carry a one year warranty. Usually you're lucky to get 90 days.

Even better is that once you get your return number you can swap it out. No one actually checks if it is broken. Could be something else wrong altogether.

I reckon in about a year I will take mine back with a "problem". Hopefully by then they've resolved it in later models.

Although I have had mine for almost a year with no issues. 4 of my friends have broken though.

I have now had mine for a week, and played for hours and hours upon end. So far I have had no problems, especially with overheating, I have made a point to check the box after each session to see if I can feel something, and the cover is cold, and on the back its not really that hot, also checked every disc I put in, no scratches so far. So dont know if they fixed it, or if I am just not checking correctly, but so far I am 100% happy, only need gears of war to be a little bit more happy

Nice - check trading places, I find there's quite a fe GoW's around these days.

What's the manufacture date of your unit BTW?

Man I have no idea, I'll check and let you know. Maybe mine was assembled by a new employee that wanted to impress he's boss

Another question, uhm where might I stumble upon these trading places? Living in centurion, close to me I know of one, and I think its only for ps2 games

Trading Games

Go to any BT Games store. They will pay you in store credit for old games and you can buy second hand ones cheaper there as well.
